I've just noticed how there's no real moderatorship here... I mean, Adam, the boards founder, still is on boards.ie regularly but I haven't seen a post by him here in a very long time. And Fio is rarely here either. Yeah, them both doing the lc is a good excuse and all but it does mean that we're falling by the wayside. The MSN list isn't sticky... there've been no updates to the icq list...

It's a sad state of affairs when moderators who know nothing of CTYI are more regular posters than our own moderators are visitors... so i'm just going to highlight the issue and leave it in everyone elses capable hands...

In all fairness on a board this small there is no real need for anything other than a weekly deletion of stupid threads and maybe making one or two threads sticky ... apart from that the members who post on this board regularly all get along and as such there is nothing that really needs moderating. I have seen this board go for one, two and even three days without anybody posting before -- CTYI is a relatively small community and will always be like that, and I for one would not really like to see that change.

yes, but there was a time when there were many posts (which i miss cause now it can get kinda dull)...

so i'm just hoping that this debate will kickstart interest in this board again, both from ctyiers in general and also our mods...

Well, if anyone I would nominate Mark. Whilst he isn't always the most objective CTYI'er he is one of the more regular posters and he does seem to be able to defuse arguments. Granted, give someone power and they immeadiately think they are your superior so I doubt my thoughts, ideas or nominations will be listened to. Just wait until the sequel to CTYI Bored comes around and all will be good.

    not mark (he knows why).

but i don't know if a new mod is what we need... i think it'd be more a case of trying to renew interest in old posters. many were scared off by the session 1 invasion of many months back, and many more had left from the lack of posting before that... we're open to another loss of posters if we don't act soon...

if anyone was to be mod, i'd probably nominate kate, as she gets sick of pointless arguments and isn't afraid to put a foot in to stop bickering etc. plus she's one of ctyi's most beloved and she could bring the people back.

Ah, I don't know why and it seems a touchy subject or something so I'll forget it. Anyway, yeah, just wait for CTYI Bored 2 (name to be changed.).

I tried a sequel to CTYI Bored but no one's all that bothered. Not ppl from here anyways. Apart of course from Sven and a few others.
Looks like it's time for me to pull out all my old e-mail addresses. I haven't MASS mass e-mailed in a year or 2 now i think.
    130 e-mails = ~ 5/6 members probably, but i'm trying.
Maybe if im working in CTYI this summer i can get my RA Group/Class to join my forum.

If ppl think that I need to be added as mod here I will be happy to do it - but I think that if you ask Fio nicely she will do anything that needs to be done.

As for waining interest in the boards. ummm well personally I have moved on from being a CTYIer - I still love all of my ctyi friends but I'm just board of reminiscing about ctyi and being a grumpy nevermore. I'm not a nevermore - I'm just a dude. CTYI was a great part of my childhood - but I'm ready to take on the world :)

That is the reason for the Funky Dig board - so i can leave all the ctyiers in peace to do their thing - and me and other ppl can do are thing.

So um yeah, I donno - rejouvenate the board? get some newbies cus ppl are quickly growing up

[Ramble] I agree this board is certainly beginning to stagnate, I too am just a “dude”, always have and ever shall be, so as for getting on with my life- I’m not a ctyi'er, yet ,a large proportion of my friends are or were for that matter, therefore I’m happy to see some fresh newbies here rejuvenating the board and so I shall primarily wallow about in <funky dig>

Just because you're not paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you.

I'm here, i read everything, as does Adam, but there isn't really anything we can do at the moment, we're both in the middle of our Orals.

I've French tomorrow evening or Thursday morning, and then Irish next week -- so *surprisingly* i'm slightly busy!!!!

There isn't anything that needs moderation really, the MSN list was sticky but we dropped it after a while and i'll see if i can do it again! :)

There is no more ICQ numbers that i've been sent to put up.

    *hugs*

    Argh....

I think what we need here is the old people.
We need to get all the legends interested in it.
The people who in my mind are the CTYI Kings and Queens.

I'm not saying some aren't already here and im not gonna name names.
Don't bitch at me please. Not posting this message for that reason.

I read the boards every day, and I am active on a wide variety of forums, but there are two particularly good reasons why I have a tendency to contribute less these days:

    1) Im on a sub standard PC at the moment which specialises in loading one web page every millenium. The keyboard on the good machine i usually use has for some reason stopped working. Although i say keyboard, it is not in fact the keyboard - its the PC (i tried another keyboard). Hence, writing this becomes very difficult on it.

    2) I have nothing to say. I have always believed in saying something only when it is a valid contribution. Thats why my post count remains sane, and thats why I dont spam threads or reply to pure waffle. Also, recall that being active on a lot of forums (not even just on boards.ie) rather strictly limits my time.

Also theres the LC, the orals etc, and the simple fact that some people will never be satisfied... :) Not so long ago I would have been labelled a dictator for interfering in the forum...

As for MSN and ICQ, I will update the ICQ list with any name and number that is sent me. I cant very well update it otherwise... the MSN list was sticky for a while, but it didnt have enough people on it and it was a dead thread. Its also a good idea not to have too many sticky threads per forum (i figure two is about right). If enough people ask, Ill resticky the MSN list.

Just realised Fio said some of that stuff, but feck it anyway.

thanks sweetie, but if i was moderator id just start deleting when i felt people were being pointless, instead of trying to make them cry. and where would the fun in that be? oh, plus the minor detail of me not knowing anythihng about the computers. anyway, adam and fio do anything thats needed. i can pretend to be a moderator if i want to, and just be myself, unfair, prejudiced and moody, when i dont. not that real moderators cant be, if they want to. i support all of you in all you do. except you, sven.
