Recording directly to mp3

I use goldwave to record radioshows and then I compress them down to mp3's using musicmatch. What I'd like to know is there a free program that can record (for example a radio/tv-card) directly into mp3 thus negating the need to have files as large as 1gig floating around on my harddrive.

PS: I just need to record directly. No need for editing afterwards.

Just use Musicmatch with a 3.5mm twin jack,

Put one end coming from the "line out" (if a PC and you are recording streaming aduio) or (headphone socket if from a stereo)
and put the other into the "line in".

Then set the custom bitrate and output format to Mp3.

Thanks! That's just saved me a LOT of time and hassle! Cheers!
