    Its not an "ion" drive is it? In theory that can reach just sub-light speed.

    tachyon drive.
    Ion Drives need to be built in space, and aren't exactly the safest (core of plasma at immensely hot temperatures being kept from the walls of the ship by an electromagnetic field.

    Fusion powerplants look the bomb though :)

    nice one azezil i think though thats not exactly si-fi... since Solar sales were sent up by some russian croud last year or the year before.. of course they made a balls of it and lost the craft somewhere but they tried at least!!

    A. C. Clark had a story about solar Sails, Win From the Sun or something it was called.....

    Tachyon cannons were in Wing Commander3 -> old news :)
