check out how many small programs are running in the background, and uninstall all that you dont use/need

    might help

    or
    1. buy ram
    2. reinstall windows

Has it always done this or is it a recent development?

If it's the latter, have you installed any new programs recently (that could be causing a conflict)?

Try some basic troubleshooting.. is this something that happens on a daily basis? maybe even within minutes of using PC? Try it in safe mode is the best bet... also get the error and try microsoft technet and see if its a recognised issue there.. but yeah run msconfig, select selective startup and remove the ticks from autoexec and config.. and also load startup group items (easier than each one individually in the startup tab).. if thats fixes it then go back in and into startup tab and go through one by one till you find the cause and then just leave the tick out..

    Start >> Run >> msconfig >>

then have a look in the startup tab disable whatever you don`t need , generally do a bit of tidying here, should sort the prob

Maybe its a voltage problem, just like what is being discussed @ http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?s=&threadid=48910

then again it could be something totally different

Usually only in really cold winters the Problem is the little people they move inside in the winter and climb in the back of PC,s they are attracted by the heat ya see. Solution big case fans they really scare them and the constant draft makes your PC less enticing.
