If you ever meet an Argentinian never make the mistake by calling them "Latino". The chances are that he/she will be very insulted and if you'r lucky they will politely say that they are NOT latino.
This example is typical of an average Argentinian. He/She will see themselves as more European and certainly not latino like those minor Brazilians up north the thought alone. And fair play to them walking through any street in Buenos Aires or Rosario ect you will feel like you are in Southern Europe.
However the last years Argentina has been having a massive recession and inflation due to years of "mismanagement" of Carlos Menem&CO. The state of this, in the early part of the 20th century extremely wealthy, country is one which could destabilise the economies of the surrounding countries.
Public Riots on the streets, a governement which is helpless, inflation is getting bigger every day. the IMF is refuses to spend anything. Main Spannish Banks are at this stage taking their losses in Arg. into their books.
the IMF, US and Europe are just crossing their fingers at this stage that the political situation will not escalate into a revolution.
Incridible if you see how fast Menem had transformed Argentina into a fairly well off country. The US-Peso pact rapidly became a vast Standard.Argentina was the example country how to get down on inflation, crime ect. Now it is turning into the best example how not to do.

There is only one small problem.... Brasil and Chile both modified largely to the Argentinian Peso-Dollar structure
