    Yellum,

Where are ya reading this from? A Newspaper? Have this crowd got a website? All I can find is a German website but nothing about the special you are talking about. Have they got stores here in Ireland?

  • Registered Users Posts: 122 ✭✭mocar

They have stores in a lot of places. Two were broken into last night in the midlands. Where are you living?

I read a leaflet that was from their peoples republic of cork store. They're a sister company to aldi.

Yeah they dont have a web site in english youre best bet is to call into a store and see what they have.

    The Machines are XP1800+
    Hynix 256MB 266Mhz DDR ram
    Seagate 40GB ATA100 (probably 5400rpm)
Asus A7V255-E (1x AGP Pro), onboard sound it would seem too.
    Asus AGP-V7100 Pro/T (GF2MX400 64MB - TVout S-VHS+Composite cable)
    Samsung 16xDVD/48xCD
    Asus 32x/12x/40x CD Rewriter
    Mitsumi Floddy Drive
    Askey 56Kmodem V1456
Soundcard is a CMedia 6channel Dolby 5.1 Surround
    5 PCi slots (4 unused)
Has 2xUSB (1.1?) ports and Mic+Headphones jacks mounted in a 3.5" bay on the front
    Logitech Wheel Mouse,
2 Year Manufacturer's Guarantee incl. Pickup service and Free Hotline
    WinXP Home Edition OEM

All that for €1100, excluding a monitor.
I'm not too sure if it's worth it, specially with the card, should be a GF2 Ti or something. MXes don't cut it.

Nah, what you seei n the ad is what you get with these people. They aren't computer stores. They might just happen to have them on special on occasions

Lidl have been very quite of late on hardware deals, but at least they are bulding a new store across the road from my house!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 513 ✭✭✭Cond0r

I'd just like to draw attention to the fact that when Aldi/Lidl have offers like this, they have about 10/15 of them in each store, they open at 9 on thursday mornings, by 10 past, all the stuff is gone. Aldi and Lidl are not the same company as some have said, they are competitors. I went down to the nearest one where I live (Lidl) there a while ago to get a nice tv they were selling, and arrived a bit late, it was 9.10am and all of them had been sold.

    That's it.

    Hi.

I got me oul fella one of the Lidl 19" monitors there recently. Sound as a hound for €250 and with a 2 year (back to base in Dublin ISTR) warranty as well.

Lidl also had 16xW Phillips CDRW machines for €100 recently....that includes VAT and delivery when ya think about it.

And they do lovely sixpacks of German Pils too. mmmmmmmm

CDR 10 packs WITH cases for 74c each. (always in stock at checkout).

Ya do have to be there at 9AM on Thursday for the specials as the man said but apart from that I would not diss Lidl or Aldi.

probably a good thing there no monitor with it, my lidl monitor has now got completely screwed colours.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,563 ✭✭✭leeroybrown

I remember someoen mentioning that they knew someone who was contracted for warranty repairs on those LIDL monitors and the failure rate was huge.

I've used ALDI's CDR's too. They seem OK.
    Tevion 40x (yes 40x - although I havn't used any at 40x yet)

i have a friend who works in alidi. He gives me the inside info on whats due. I have my eye on the surrond speakers. Are they any good.

    Here is the specs

    Surround Sound Speakers 69.99Euro
5.1 active sound system with power subwoofer for great CD and DVD listening enjoyment. 200 watt (PMPO) subwoofer for a full bass sound with integrated amplifier and 5 x 50 watts (PMPO) satellite loud speakers. LED operating display with volume control for satellite speakers and subwoofer. Includes speaker cables, AC adaptor and 5.1 channel audio input.

I dont have a 5.1 sound card but would get one if i got these.

I hear its mad trying to get in at 9. I been told its like there is a war on and the specials are the rationed food.

Any suggestions what time to be at the store to be near the top of Q.
