    Band BIOGRAPHY:

    SONORA

    PATRICK QUIGLEY: Vocals and Guitars
    STEPHEN SHERIDAN: Guitars
    SID ALCOCK: Bass Guitar
    SHANE POWER: Drums and Percussion

Formed three years ago, Dublin-based Sonora are a four piece band with a penchant for guitars and strong melodies. One critic has described their music as "classic melodies, prizing the importance of the self contained song, situated at the point where forward facing rock music meets 60's pop sensibility".
The band spent most of 2000 playing in Dublin honing their live set and building up a loyal fan base. Following a Dublin showcase gig last year with Mercury Music Prize nominee, Tom McCrae, the band caught the eye of BMG International. The BMG label wasted no time in offering a development deal, in turn leading to a veritable who's who of international A&R in attendance at recent gigs.

    8 Ball

8Ball are an eclectic six-piece whose unique style has already gained considerable critical and popular acclaim in the relatively short time they have been together. Originally a traditional four-piece, 8Ball have added two members since their conception in 1999 and with them several new layers of sound. After a short and highly prolific bout of song writing they retired to Salt Studios where the “Salt Sessions” were recorded. It was these sessions that became the basis of their ever-expanding live set.

What began as an organic Indie garage band had now progressed into a slow
and easy soul-soothing funk, with an underlay of jazz. This coupled with hip
hop influenced cuts and breaks and melodic four way harmonies, makes it hard to stop your head from bobbing and your face from smiling. The depth of
sound is phenomenal and at times it's difficult to remember that those
behind the music are so very young, the average age being only 22.

    ZEPPO
Zeppo formed at the end of 2000. All band members grew up in Limerick, but it was not until they were all living in Dublin that they began playing music together. All five had an admirable history of ****ty day jobs before they dedicated their hearts, minds and bodies to music.
Their legendary live shows have garnered Zeppo ever growing legions of loyal fans, rave press reviews and close media attention. Each new show is greeted with a rush of anticipation; people expect it to be bigger and better than before and always rising to the occasion, Zeppo have yet to disappoint.
Last year Zeppo recorded a Fanning Session for 2FM, the Irish national radio station, which the powers that be simply refuse to stop playing. The Fanning session is famed for being the first important step every great Irish band has ever taken. Additionally, Irish rock journalist Alan Corr described Zeppo's home recorded "El Demmo" as the "most kicking" music he had heard in years. Meanwhile Zeppo have been thundering out a spate of spectacular gigs in Dublin. Galway and Limerick, highlights being two GPO Galway performances and many barnstorming nights in the Temple Bar Music Centre. Detroit producer Jerome Rimson caught one of these Dublin shows and told the band after the "scorching set" that he would agree to work with them. Rimson, a world-class bass player, has played with Freddie Mercury, Van Morrison, Thin Lizzy and Steve Winwood amongst others. Hot Press also caught the Zeppo bug, bestowing upon them glowing live reviews ("Immediately arresting performance... taking a fiercely eclectic approach... psychedelia-tinged flights of fancy... acid-jazz flourishes... Zeppo possess enough quirks and edges to get away with it") and a highly complimentary feature article.
