I actually like the simplicity of the current Mod, User, Admin etc.
I'd also go for the post/day rate to be on the users sidebar (under the tagline maybe or instead of the post count).

I don't see anything wrong with user titles as long as users just have blue stars, mods white and admins yellow, that makes it easy to see who's who. I've added the PPD for test period.

i liked the user, mod/cmod, admin one's.

also i thought it was a good idea for users to be able to choose which tag-line 'style set' they have, in their user-cp.

also people like cloud/dev/hobbes/wwm etc... will have incorrect ppd ratios as all thems old-skool types have jan 1995. could it be set a little closer like 1998-99?

This morning I logged in and found the pips and ranks and all, and I thought it was nicely done and the pips quite attractive. It seemed that there were more ranks too which was neat.

Just logged in this evening and lo, to my disappointment, they've been turned back to the old crap ones.

Yeah, I thought it was pretty cool to see the pips and ranks when I logged in this morn. But disappointed to see them changed back. Don't like all that "Newbie" stuff (for obvious reasons, I suppose). Perhaps the fairest (safest?) thing to do is just have the two options in the user cp, as mentioned.

not read every post in this thread so someone might have said this already but.... in this day and age of skinable sites, shouldn't it be conceivable to have a number of different formats for the stars and levels of rank listed in the user cp and let the user select what set of levels they'd like to see when they browse the boards, so if for example we've a trekkie poster he/she could view everyone as having trekkie ranks. This is of cours eif anyone can be bothered coding all this, I know I can't.

Oh man thats a ****ing great idea, it might be a little hard to implement, but if you could have several hierarchies (like there are several boards skins) then we could each choose whatever hierarchy we wanted, I would love to have Star Trek back but dont want to cause too much hassle, but if that idea could be implemented we could even submit new hierarchier from time to time.

Probably not worth the hassle, but its a thought.

actually that may not be a great idea. instead of that could the ppd be used as a rating on this page near the top. well since posters can be listed by posts made, date joined and alphabetically, why not do it this way too.?

I was in work and the last one was going to be a bit more expansive but my client walked in. Allow me to explain myself a little clearer.

My concern was only really for the mod, cmod and admin titles. Just in case anyone gets the wrong idea, this is not an ego thing For example, The Ireland Offline board is linked from an external site and many of the users arent au fait with the boards at all. The more transparency for these users, the better. While the titles moderator and community moderator are pretty clear, the captain and commander titles looked like a continuation of the user titles and this could lead to confusion.

Just the other day there was a post from someone who didnt seem to understand that devore was an admin and that was with the word 'admin' under his name

Um, - I only post once or twice every day or two and my average post count is still over 6. (It used to be almost 8, so at least it IS dropping down). I used to post a lot when I worked in an Internet company - especially when the sales disappeared and I had little else to do.
