its a sb live and whenever its in games its grand but when i play music or watch a dvd it starts to crackle

VIA chipset so?

If it is, I'd recommend the PCI Latency patch. It worked for me.

What JustHalf said, also go into the Creative mixer and lower the inputs and volumes. Worked for my Audigy.
