I have recently purchased a new 40 GB Quantum harddrive and i am having major problems getting it set up, mainly because i havn't a clue what i am at. at the moment it is in place on the motherboard and is located in the device manager but it is not appearing as a new drive in my computer. i think that i am supposed to…

manufacturers use different measurements for gigabytes and megabytes than OS's and software people do. with regards to manufacturers they say there are 1000 kilobytes in a megabyte and there are 1000 megabytes in a gigabyte. software persons will tell you that there are 1024 megabytes in a gigabyte so that is where u have lost ur 2.8gb or what ever u said has gone missing.
