I'm not sure if this will apply to Muslim voters as well (voting is on the Muslim holy day)

Order issued to ensure all electors can vote

The Government has made special arrangements for electors who can not vote on May 17th because of their religious obligations.

The Minister for the Environment and Local Government, Mr Noel Dempsey, made a ‘Special Difficulty Order’ which provide for people who can not take part in secular activities due to their religion on the day of the poll.

The General Election will coincide with the Festival of Shavuos - a sacred day in the Jewish calendar, during which all business activities are prohibited.

Such people can be included on the supplement to the postal voters list. The Minister said eligible people should contact their County Council or City Council immediately for an application form.

May 10th is the deadline for the receipt of applications.
