Are there any isps that allow you to connect to wap using a mobile? I know UTV Internet used to, and they were 15 times cheaper than eircell, but that was closed down due to lack of use.

Not in Ireland. At this stage it's as a result of the low uptake/usage of WAP, but originally it also had a lot to do with telco politics - ISP's were owned by telcos who also owned the mobile operators (you'll note UTV Internet is not).

Late 1999 - early 2000 saw a lot of Machiavellian going on's over 'who would act as the Wireless ISP'. The mobile operators won out.
