Even after all the complaints of monoply and anti competion tricks leveled at Eircom they still manage to get the contract.There must be a storm of brown envolopes flying arround the dail.

On a lighter note

Meanwhile, an Esat spokeswoman said yesterday the firm was totally committed to the Republic and would not pull out of the residential market

which if they are as good as there word is some consolation

The contract, which is worth about €130 million over five years, will see Eircom and Vodafone supply a range of telecommunications services to public bodies and Government departments. They will also supply and maintain a backbone telecoms and internet infrastructure to enable a planned e-government initiative.

Two points:

1. Is this the Fianna Fail commitment to broadband?

2. Isn't it sort of putting the cart before the horse by providing facilities for eGovernment yet having pitiful facilities for Joe Public to access the services? Kind of similar to building motorways in a country where people only ride bicycles!!

the Government has shares in all of them..
this all spells.. M.O.N.O.P.O.L.Y.
