Having seen the killing of Pim Fortuyn this has prompted me to get some facts corrected:

    1. A Lot of foreign Media portraid Fortuyn as being the Dutch Le Pen or Haider. He was not, because of the simple fact that he did not in anyway deny the Holocaust nor did he sympathise with (neo) nazis.

    2. He was not anti Arab in his political views ( personal view was that he felt not comfortable with Muslim religion because of homosexuality ). He just plegded for a better intergration of foreigners living in Holland for longer periods.

    3. He wanted to limit the immigration to Holland not extradite foreigners living in Holland. Unlike Le PEn and Haider.

    4. He was right wing in his conceptions and view, in political Holland this does not mean that you are related with nationalistic and/or extremist entities.

What Pim Fortuyn said was in plain understandable language and onliners unlike most of his political opponents.
Most of the major parties had simular views in their electionprogrammes dating back to 1992 ( VVD and CDA) and 1996 ( VVD/PVDA/CDA/D'66).
Pim Fortuyn in a lot of ways has actually, in the short period, WOKEN UP a lot politicians and their parties, by taking a controversial approach of reaching people.

What his view were worth leaves an unaswered question. I personally did not agree with some of his views however he has touched people.

The reasons why this man shot him are strill a mystery however he will be remember for waking up people and politicians
