    Can someone explain to me it is?

    The board is an offshoot of the Open mailing list. However most of the daily traffic does not make it from the list to the board.

    It is *the* Irish mailing list for those working with the web and the internet. Basically it is the single greatest concentration of expertise in Ireland and the people there are helpful.

    Other more specialised Open lists such as Open-Tech (programming and code issues) exist.
