Pictures and Links in Posts

How do you put in Pictures to your Posts cause I tried Pastin and that Didn't work.(I know, it was a stupid idea, but I ain't the cleverest one!) Also, how do you put in links and make them appear as something else?

you put a picture in your post using the following code [IMG]h**p://www.picture.com/picture.jpg[/IMG] but i seems to me that only the mods can use this code.
just change for a link.

Depends...

1. on whether you type in the code correctly
2. on whether you type in the URL correctly
3. on whether the file exists
4. on whether the server the file is on is down
5. on other things
