Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    .
    Konichiwa genki desu ka?
    Ann young hasayo!

I just got back from Japan/Korea, ( Boy the Women are cute!) I was there for
a few months and it's getting pretty feckin hot over there.

I hope our lads do , well but my mind tells me something else.

I think teams like Sweden, England, Denmark and Ireland will suffer
because of the heat and humidity...While teams like Argentina,
Cameroon, Nigeria, Brazil will do much better than expected.

Well i wish our boys the best of Luck, but I fear that the weather will
kill us like it did in the USA.

As for the Songs here's the best one!

    Fields of Athenry

By a lonely prison wall, I heard a young girl calling
Michael they have taken you away
For you stole Travelyan's corn, so the young might see the morn
Now a prison ship lies waiting in the bay

    Chorus
Low lie the Fields of Athenry
Where once we watched the small, free birds fly
Our love was on the wing, we had dreams and songs to sing
It's so lonely on the Fields of Athenry

So where should the Irish lads go in Japan?

Akihabara ("Electric Town") is a must-visit for anyone into gadgets or tech stuff.

And there's a shop that sells sirens for your car (forgot to get one) - oh, the possibilities are endless

Go to Ueno if you're into motorbikes (or zoos/galleries) - the place is packed with motorbike shops.

Ok I'll post the stuff on Japanese phrases, but just a little something first.

Japan has crime, gangs and Yakuza, but the hooligan thing is very new.

The Media has told Japan that we're hooligans in Ireland!!!

Cultural and geographical proximity to England and indiscriminate media reporting have combined to place Ireland as a "SOCCER-HOOLIGAN" country in the minds of the Japanese people.

    So be careful!

Don't Show Tattoos in public, as the only people with Tattoos in Japan are the "Yakuza" or Japanese Mafia.

Here's some Japanese phrases to help u all get by in Japan.

Buy Duty Free Electronics? Well first bring your Flight Ticket and Passport to claim Duty Free in the city of Tokyo.

    Sceptre's right!!

Akihabara is the place to be.

And go to the huge department stores called Gateway Country and T-Zone!! or Laox for Tax free stuff!!

Ireland will get to the quarter finals at least I reckon.

After studying the teams and the draws in the world cup. I think Ireland will be beaten in the semi-final by Spain. I have 100 euros on them to get that far.

Sadly after this Keane **** I feel we will sink in the group stage. But I'll watch our team all the way and support them all the way and I'll be proud of every one of them because they are giving their all for Ireland.

Well, I was having a look at the club listings on Metropolis. It seems a decent club night is fairly expensive to get into. About 20 to 25 euros. Then you would have your drink on top of that...

Im just going to go to bars, might try and go to the Liquid Room though.

There are indie/rock joints for sure but I cant tell you what they are cos im just a dance music head :)

Yep Metropolis, like Lex has said.

    Tokyo?

    North(*\,|*/#~)
    <>
    (|+*\~*/)Central
    <>
    West Tokyo (|,|_*\-*/_"*|)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 48 IrishGuykokoJin

Well that didn't work too good. North Tokyo is the place for temples, museum, artifacts.
Central for shopping, business, soaring buildings.
West Tokyo for restaurants, small shops, bars and clubs.

    Go west.
To either Shibuya ( Karaoke, street Music, shops and pubs "Oh God!": a good bar to go after clubbing as it's open till 6am and show free films ever night.)
or East Shinjuku ( Clubs, Movie theatres, Red light district, and Pubs "Dubliners" you can get Kilkenny, Guinness...)
Lots of nightclubs in Roppongi too check out "Paddy O'Folleys live indie music".
