You can make MPG into VCD's i think.
Try search for mpeg to vcd software.
But it will only play in decent dvd players (not the cheapo ones)
    Won't play in a ps2

Actually the cheapest DVD players are often quite good for playing VCD's as theyre usually slapped together in Asia where VCD's are hugely popular.

Having said that, I've a Panasonic SC-HT70 which plays them no problems.

PS/2 won't play VCDs. Unless you can make a DVD, then you're screwed.

Easy CD Creator can burn VCD's, but you have to convert your AVI to mpeg2 first... playing the VCD on the PS2's DVD player should in theory work, but I've never tried it before.

VCD's are really **** quality though no? compared to DVD or DivX< I heard you'd have to uncompress a movie that took up say 1 CD on to about 4 CD's in VCD to get similar quality

It depends. I have seen some really poor VCD's however, I have seen pretty damn good ones fit onto 2 CD's before (still much much worse than VHS quality even, but very watchable all the same).

Yea, good quality VCD's take at least(!) 2 CD's. Even the best come out looking a tad blurry. Still very watchable though. And you can use CD-RW's so once you've watched the movie you can record over it :]

isnt VCD a fixed resolution format? or is this 2/4 cd stuff refering to SVCD etc.?
