Early reports from Saipan suggest that in a dramatic turn of events Roy Keane could be about to fly to Japan later today for reconciliation talks with the Irish squad and manager Mick McCarthy.

Sources report that after further talks with manager Alex Fergeson, Keane has decided to make a humble apology for his outburst at yesterdays squad meeting, blaming personel problems for his recent form. A seemingly remourseful Keane is quoted as saying " I have been under enormous pressure lately due to personnel issues and arriving in Saipan to find below par training facilities sparked off the situation .

Due to media pressure i was unable to think clearly and would like to make a sincere apology to both Mick and the lads. I was out of line and perhaps said some things i shouldn't. I would like also to apologies to the thousands of people back at home who i have let down, it has been a great honour to captain my country and i would love nothing more than to lead the lads out next Saturday in Nigata".

Carlsberg don't do apologies but if they did They would probably be the best apologies in the world!!
