speed step? hot key?

i found where i can get most of my drivers for my laptop, a Panasonic Toughbook cf-71myck... they drivers they give are: speed step hot key touch pad sound video what is speed step and hot key?

Speed step is a feature of the mobile P3. To save power the cpu will run at a slower speed unless under high cpu load, and will usually run at the slower speed when on batteries. Quite handy for saving power, and you can force it to run at the faster speed if you need to. I have no idea what 'hot key' is.
