    Deadly thread, (whoever started it!)

Anyone one the song in the coke ad where your man looks like he downed a half bottle of viagra, got ants in his pants and starts bustin moves all over the gaff!!

Vocal goes "Dance to the sound of the bass drum, thingy thingy, something else--ohh yeah" - or something!

Catchy song, hopefully there is a funky deep house remix of it by some french clown called Pascal, hopefully??

Here's one that I've never been able to find out.

It's from around 91-92 probably earlier.

As far as I can remember it was a bit of a Rave type tune.

    Lyrics:
"2 Fabiola for the bigger and bolder"
"These are steel drums" (followed by someone banging on steel drums, surprising enough!!)

    Any suggestions?

    B.

Tbh I don't recognise it but if you heard it on a weekday morning I'm sure it will be on repeat fairly often. I'll have a listen seeing as I often catch it in the mornings. You could text in later around drivetime too.

If I hear someone say "Deep" or "Funky" house one more time, I'm going to jump off the nearest bridge. Why the **** must you say DEEP FUNKY ****ING HOUSE, does it somehow make it seem cooler or something? I've seen Euphoria albums that say, "the best of deep funky house". Trust me, it just pisses the hell out of everyone else. "DEEP HOUSE", in what ****ing way?!. In that it has something meaningfull and profound to convey?. Not ****ing likely. "Funky house ", I guess is ok to a certain extent, but isn't house supposed to funky by default? I mean if its not "funky" then what is it? Just some random ****e that dosen't fit into any other genre?

End of rant but someone explain to me please the whole concept of these sub-genres. Its been doing my head in for ages now

ok sorry if i upset somebody by describing a song as funky house
i honestly thought i had heard house music that wasnt funky before tho :p

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,945 ✭✭✭Anima

    Heh :)

Sorry was slightly pissed off while typing that. Does it show? ;)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,035 ✭✭✭Bri

    Ouch.

I'd say it's fair to describe House as funky in certain instances only. But otherwise I agree that subgenres are just headwrecking!

    Hi guys,

The tune I'm trying to source is from back in 94 I think and the main chorus line was..
"Giving them drugs taking their lives away..."

I remember this tune getting a huge reception in the Purty & Ziggy's out in Dun Laoghaire. I also heard it a good few times on various pirate radio stations at the time but never got the name of it. Any help with the name and sourcing an mp3 would be greatly appreciated.

One last thing was the tune Santranceisco (? sp) produced by passionella or was it someone else?

    Thanks again...

Emperion's "Narcotic Influence". If I remember correctly that's the original. Def. been sampled and re-released etc. Think the Hot Potato label did one of the newer versions.
    Original
