You might look into the Institutio Cervantes (the Spanish Cultural Institue), not sure what they have on the web though, but they have an office in Dublin (check with the Spanish Embassy).

Dunno bout the web, but the Ilac library has plenty of spanish history stuff. Antony Beevor's book on the spanish civil war is very good. Tis in Easons.

If you want to get first hand responses on the Civil war. Walk around teh streets of Barcelona. Go up to a Catalan over the age of 35 and say:
    "Franko. - Wasn't he a great statemen??"
It will either get to chased by a Bull or your brain drilled with passionate rage...

I'm deadly serious. I'm really interested in first hand reports. I would recommand it next time you are in barcelona. :)

Lets just say Barcelona isn't the Socialist utopia it once was.;)
