Dont know if everyone knows this but www.play.com has a fairly extensive range of cds to choose from at very good prices.
Just ordered the new Blackalicous , DJ Shadow and Meshell Ndegeocello albums.

Play also have a great selection of region 1 and 2 DVDs

But be warned they can be very slow to deliver, i ordered a DVD over 2 weeks ago, site says it was posted on the 17th and it still hasnt arrived!! They are usually slow so i will wait a little longer before checking up on it.

In comparison I also ordered something from blackstar.co.uk and it was also posted on the 17th but that arrived on the 18th ! Blackstar are best for Region 2

I've ordered games from them in the past and have found them prity good with shipping. Maybe the games are shipped from a different place? The prices are hard to beat tho'.....£19.99 (€35) for GTA3 on PC and €50 for Rogue Leader For Gamecube.

They're usually not bad with shipping.

I've ordered a DVD which took 4 days to arrive and then 2 CDs which took exactly a week.

I like them simply because they stock US cds that aren't on sale over here and that you usually have to pay outrageous prices to import by other means.

i've really turned away from play.com of late.. they seriously need to up their bandwidth, timeouts, dns errors, forever to load the pages, its just not worth the hassle.

for cds.. cdnow.com or dotmusic.com have a much larger selection.. the latter being great for singles/eps/etc.

If it's been over two weeks you should contact them. I am waiting ages now for two cds. I ordered 3 at the same time, one came within a week the others have yet to arrive. The cds are shipped from the States so you need to allow 5 working days for delivery.
I sent them an e-mail and they said they would trace the post, they also asked if I would like a refund or new cds sent. So they are pretty cool about it.
Kali is right, the site is seriously annoying right now.
As for dvds taking ages they are shipped form Jersey, so they shouldnt take that long. The longest I had to wait was a week, they say they should be 3-5 days and usually they arrive after 3.

No, the CDs and DVDs can be shipped from different places as they've various warehouses that they stock and mail from.

As far I know they never ship them from the US. True that 95% of the CDs they import from there but they're delivered to your house from elsewhere (unless their policy has since changed?)

I've had a CDs delivered to me from Belgium. They took a week to arrive.

    I recommend www.cdwow.ie
New Release cds cost only E14.50 including delivery and it only takes about 5 days. Their back catelogue isnt great but their ur only man for newbie cds! I think they flogg dvds on the cheap too. The reason they sell them at such a competitive rate is because they purchase them in countries where tax on goods is low and where distributors sell for less, such as singapore and hong kong where my last few cds arrived from.
Their pay path is secure so no worries there.

They only seem to cater for very mainstream stuff though. That's where some of the other sites are better.

Road Records of fade street is a wonderful little shop "specialising in independent, alternative, underground rock, electronica, punk, reggae, and whatever else takes our fancy."

If you aren't looking for anything mainstream then give their online shop a whirl, www.roadrecs.com. I've used the system once, out of laziness, and they were a little slow for a Dublin delivery (maybe 5 days, I don't remember exactly), or I was a little impatient ... or they realised I was a lazy bastard and decided to hold off posting anything. Though, the shipping beat the bus fare in and out, so I felt justified :)

A lot of the stuff you will find in their catelogue would not be in your local golden discs/hmv/whatever or on amazon for that matter (the irish stuff), so I find them to be a very valuable resource. Unfortunately they are only a small shop, and the website reflects this, so no reviews or other features you might have come to expect. But if you are into the genres that they stock then you won't find that such a problem.
