I`ve just bought a nice new 40 gig drive that i was going to add to my current compaq presario 5186 but to do this i need to acess the cmos however when i press f10 as told to by their website it does nothing adn the pc just boots up,if i hold f10 then the pc just freezes on the red compaq logo I was wondering if anyone…

Try booting with out the keyboard and if a screen comes up giving you the F10 option, whip the keyboard back in and bingo!.

Other than that maybe clear the cmos?
