on and its far fro mthe same, for starter it 3 phase power not 2, hasnt got any of that intergrated ****e,

I think your memory may be a problem:
    Epox EP-8K7A+ DDR
    PQI 512MB PC133 (dimm)

The DDR mobo will need DDR ram.

I have this motherboard, thought about the Abit DDR, but its not out yet, way more expensive and other than having more memory slots (which you must use REGISTERED DDR Dimms in only, to use more than 2) its the same.

At the moment I have my 1.33GHz TB running at 1600MHz. Thats with an underpowered 300W PSU. Getting a new one soon wink.gif

lump are u quoting store prices or some site you found on the net?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,457 ✭✭✭Gerry

erm why are you recommending the abit board gladiator? because you recognise the brand name? The epox is currently the best ddr board around, it consistently clocks to higher speeds than the abit, ( people have clocked it up to 180 fsb stable ) The abit tops out at around 140-150. Go and read a few reviews. www.amdmb.com for a start.

Gerry i think you miss understand, im not talking about the current model, but the 761 chipset model, its really very impressive, and due out in afew weeks, its got everything the epox has and more

That graphics card.. it aint a great one.. soon down the road ull be looking for an upgrade try and at least look for a GF2 Gts cheep some where.. the HP 4500 will run Cs great.. but as for future games im not so sure.. read some reviews. I may be rong. Altho i have read the HP 4500 to a GF2 GTS and id have to say id spen the extra 80 quid perhaps for it. At least it will keep u from moaning for a little while longer.. wink.gif

All pcs some time or another will make u mon..

lol iky. Erm gladiator, I know you are talking about the abit kg7-raid. Just let us know what is better about it?

NewEgg's prices are keen - but it's academic, they don't ship to Ireland. Only places I've found that ship to Ireland are The Chip Merchant (chipmerchant.com) and Micro Warehouse (warehouse.com).

You know about The Overclocking Store in Britain? theoverclockingstore.co.uk - they specialise in overclocking gear, and are cheaper than you're quoting, though, oh, maybe not when you factor in the sterling diff.

You don't mention your vid card and soundcard - what you getting and why?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 258 ✭✭Fand

oh, wait, I see you're actually quoting in yuk pounds, so the sterling differential doesn't come into it. Yeah, definitely look at The Overclocking Store.

Memory's crashing down in Britain at the moment, it's cheaper there than in the US as far as I can see.

Take a look at dabs.com - they have PC133 cas2 (faster than cas3 because of the addressing system) SDRAM for something like stg£30 per 256MB at the moment. Nice people to deal with, too.

As are both Micro Warehouse and The Chip Merchant, by the way, in my experience.
