Question on the profanity censors...

Right, well this may seem a little bit silly but anyway. I was wondering if there was a way that you could add an option to be able to the profanities through your own choice, for example an option in your Profile to give you the choice of seeing the bad language or not. I can understand that there probably are many young (young!) people on this board who probably don't want to see such bad language and their parents wouldn't be too pleased to see their son/daughter looking at the language either. However I'm sure there is a way of tackling this...

I was just wondering, because when I try to copy and paste jokes and other humerous poems etc with the language all I get is tons and tons of ***********'s.

Just a thought...

I'm with Andy on this one. It is far more amusing.

Reminds me of that scene in "The Opposite of Sex" where there is a television interview with a young guy and all the rude words are blanked out but you can completely tell what he's saying:

If I save one kid from getting <silence>, from having his <silence> totally <silence> until it looks like the Lincoln Tunnel and he can't stand up for three weeks, then maybe all of this is worth... something. Teachers everywhere have to learn that no means no... at least until we've dropped out.

As far as I know, there's no option in the cp that allows you to configure the ****ing profanity censor. It's easy enough to get around it if you know how (there are a few tricks that work), but swearing is neither big, funny (except in a tasteful joke) or clever.

I for one do find those **** ****ing bastard stars annoying, and we had a few complaints saying that it discriminated against cockney accents and certain urls that unintentionally spelled out shit when shown in full. Overall though, it keeps out some of the muppets (always a good thing) and stops the potty mouths from becoming rampant.
