Personally I want Spain to win it now that Ireland are out. It'll show the rest of the world that we have been put out by the World Champions (on penalties) whom we could and should have hammered. :cool:

I have a mate over there supporting the States and he e-mailed me yesterday telling me they are going to win it now - I hope they do but kinda doubt it.

For me, entertainment wise it's got to be Brazil.

Italy were my tip before the tournament, I think they are a little boring though and have many negative aspects to their game. I hope it's not them.

Spain would be nice because we lost/drew with the best.

I would vomit if Turkey won, cynical bunch that. It would be wasted on the states as their people don't care. Senegal would be a fairytale, would would begrudge them same could be said of Korea.

Germany, I would not write off, despite what people say about them. They are very tough and may yet become the worst team to ever win a world cup. I would not like them to win as I think it would be a bad advert for soccer.

The final one is a tough one. I'll come out and say it. If not one of the minnows, and if not Brazil, then I'd like to see England win. This world cup has been an eye opener, the way their pundits and people have gotten behind the Irish team, compared to how we talk about them. I almost felt ashamed (this is coming from a guy who was wearing an Argentina shirt for the england game).
These are the players most of us follow week in week out. The only trouble is, we'd never hear the end of it. I'm sick of 1966 being wheeled out before every tournament/match, can you imagine if they won it now ?

Alternativley if you were feeling a bit cynical, an England/Germany final with England losing on penalities might be quite funny and beckham missing the decider.

With Italy now being out (in extra time to South Korea!) it's either going to be England, Spain or Brazil. I'm sorry- I would LOVE to see one of the outsiders to win, but I just can't see it happen. If I had to pick, I would say that the winners of Brazil vs England on Friday WILL win the World Cup! Mind you, my record as a pundit is APPALLING- I forecast France would beat Senegal 6-0!!!!

If England beat Brasil (Brazil?) then its wide open mainly because they have beaten the best team left and will assume its theirs.

I wouldnt write off the out siders especially Korea they have all probed themselves capable of beating the best.

I think any football purist (apart perhaps from the 60-70million or so who live in the two countries in question) fears the appalling vista of an England Germany final.

I would love to see a Brazil Spain final. Failing that, Brazil Germany with the samba dancers thrashing the lederhosen slappers in much the same fashion that their 1970 compatriots hammered the ultra negative Italians.

It really is the world cup of the underdogs.Brazil is the only historically great team left with Italy and Argentina,as well as france out of the picture.I think id go for Japan or Korea to win.

I'd love to see South Korea win it, but i don't think they will.

I'm pretty confident that the winner of England - Brazil will go on to win the World cup, both sides have been a little bit hit and miss but I think they are both (particularily England) big match teams who play well in the big games. If Owen is fit for the match then England will probably win.

Senegal will probably make history in becoming the first African team to reach the semi-finals, I don't think Turkey will be a match for them and they will push the winner of England-Brazil very hard, they might even manage to pick up 3rd place.

I think Germany will prove too strong for the US, they are extremely solid, have the worlds best goalkeeper in Ollie Kahn, and Klose is becoming an excellent striker. I fancy them to reach the final, losing to either Brazil or England (1966 all over again, ugh).

If i'd been asked to predict the result of a Spain-Korea quarter final a few weeks ago i'd of said Spain would thrash them. Now, i think it is very hard to call, i can see either side winning. Spain were good in the group stages but were shown up by Ireland and were extremely lucky to get past us on penalties. S.Korea with their home crowd behind them and having already dispatched Portugal and Italy will not be afraid of them and could do the business. If Senegal, England, Germany and Korea reach the semis, what a historic World Cup finish that would be!

would rather not see England win... not because they're not good enough or don't deserve it... but because we'd never hear the end of it... and I've never been a big fan of England as a nation anyway...

i think Brazil will win it. the only way they wont is if England beat them, so if that happens i think it will be England. basically i think the winner of Friday's game will win the World Cup. it would be nice to see someone like Senegal or South Korea win it though

For obvious reasons, I'd love to see England win a world cup in my life time. I believe if we beat Brazil it will probably the best chance we will have for another 30 odd years.

Failing that, I'd love to see South Korea or Brazil win it. I love watching any South American team play football, none more than Brazil. The South Korea fans are fantastic, it is such a sight to see the sea of red in the crowd when they play. And when they do play, they play with their hearts and their souls and play some great football.

Id be afraid though that whoever wins it will be dismissed for want of a better word because of so many shocks that have occured. Thatd be a pity for whoever wins it.

The south Koreans got very friendly with us and supported us a lot. They allready have plans to come to ireland in the summer on holidays to see what ireland really is like lol. Its hard really, I want to support both spain and SK but guess thats the way it is. Also a pitty that japan didn't go though today. They were very supportive to the irish, 1000s wore our jerseys

I think there must be a slightly different question between 'who do you think is going to win' and 'who would you like to win'

First question is hard to call even though loads of people in here seems to know the future...

The one thing we have learned from this brilliant world cup is that nothing is predictable. Favourites went out and underdogs are the stars of tomorrow. Football nations with loads of talent and famous players can trip up on the basics of the game...have fun ...go for goals...enjoy your play..entertain.
It's strange but the old football nations doesn't seem to be able to handle the enthusiasm of the underdog teams. The spirit of the smaller ones , could it make a game ?

so I all honesty...I would not dare to predict a country to win the worldcup but I would like for South Korea to win it.
