Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Has there been a conspiracy to help South Korea make it to the semi-finals of the world cup?

some people are bad loosers and are spreading this rubbish..

Regular football players and watchers will tell you that ref's and linesmen make bad decisions at times..

Anyway its all well and good us knowing the truth with the benifit of instant replays and freeze frames, they have to call it on the spot and it seems some of the officals from smaller countries are making some dodgy calls. Christ, Ireland were blessed against Spain a couple of times with some of the offside calls.

I can't believe that those 'bigger' teams are complaining about referee decisions, if the training packet contains 'how to drop like a fly and get a free kick'.
How many times did the Italy not changed a game by dropping dead in the box ? Are they not well known for this?
Hell Everybody drops, and everybody is counting on the referee to make a decision...in their favour, so they all should stop complaining and look of what makes the Korean team different from theirs.
All this individual skills and no team to play with.
Koreans help each other, chase balls, one defender not enough to intercept a ball , a second is coming in.
They run for 120 minutes and stay positive, some of the bigger names have sat on their arses for too long..living from the Nike ad money.

Start Playing , not complaining if its all too late.

Its a serise of little cock-ups, no conspiriacy.

    Why?

Because conspiracies take a lot of hard work and planning!

The real scandal if there is one is that linesmen have been drafted in from countries that don't play the game professionaly,
for geo-political reasons. These guys just can't hack it at the top level. All refs and assistants should be from Europe or South America.

Yeh, conspiracy consmhiracy. Korea are there on merit (jesus, they run hard) and because of a few appaling decisions. They should have been knocked out twice but because of inept line calls, they got thru. Thems the breaks.
I have no sympathy for the italians, they could have won it if they hadnt have taken thier foot off the pedal in the 1st half (youd think with 4 previous goals disallowed they might have thought better of this). The spanish i do feel sorry for however, they were the better team and were very hard done by.

I see that both hugh dallas and a swedish referee have condemned the policy of bringing inexperienced refs and assistants to world cups and have called for a lifting on the ban of 'no more than one from any country'. Theyre probably right too.
The world cup is no place to be blooding new people.

Of course there is no conspiracy.

I was delighted to see the likes of Italy and Spain being knocked out by a so called weaker nation. Its justice for Italys years of cheating and diving and Spains years of completely bottling it.

FIFA has to do something though about the poor linesmen. Due to the politics within FIFA every region gets to nominate refs and linesmen but while most from Europe and South America are good most from Asia and Africa are poor. The European refs are officiating in CL and WC or EC qualifiying games of a very high standard all season so when it comes to a WC it is not a huge step up.

Officials from Asia and Africa may have their own equivalant competitions but it is clearly not that high a standard so their own performances are not to a high enough standard. While most refs have been good at this WC too many mistakes have been made by the linesmen and whatever about a conspiracy, Italy had two good goals against Croatia disallowed and Spain had a golden goal against Korea disallowed. The linesman in that game should never be given and probably wont be given an international match again. You wouldnt see a decision like that in Junior football.

Blatter has said for the next WC politics will not enter the selection process. The best refs in the world for the best teams in the world. We shall see.
