every now and then i get a problem with my main cd rom drive.
it wont recognise anything that is placed in it. if i put it in my second rom drive, it picks it up easy. i usually have to go and strip oput my pc to get ti to work again.
any ideas? i cant remember of hand what my ide setup is, but i do have an internal ide card, but i think both of my rom drives are on the second ide controller.
    running win2k,

go into device manager and check the properties for your prmary and secondry ide controllers.
under advanced you should be able to choose either dma or pio or something else (depends on OS. im using win2k) and shuffle them about.
    easy peasy
