    These things are always gas.
Everyone posts these amazing results, but forgets to mention the details. Like what driver version, whether the machine was overclocked, what OS, what res, what colour depth, what settings were enabled....etc.
    All this stuff adds up.

    Right. 12.41 det4, GF256 32meg SDR, P3 800 100FSB, AOpen AX6BC intel 440BX chipset, 128 Apacer CAS2 Ram 100 FSB, Win98SE, 640x480x16bpps, triple buffering, no FSSA, 'blend' mip-map mode, VSync enabled (like it would make a difference at 40fps).
Result after one running was in the region of 2800. Nothing was overclocked. i have seriously puney fans in my machine.
I don't think you'll get nuch more then that. Maybe in the 300-3100 region. That isa SDR card right?

    Syx ure rite soz:

    operating system: Win98 SE
    Processor: AMD Duron(tm) @ 758MHz
    Graphics Card:
3D Prophet II MX PCI(12.40 drivers)
    Total Physical Memory: 192MB
    Free Physical Memory: 36.93MB
    Motherboard Manufacturer: ChainTech
    Motherboard Model: 8363-686A

You sure u ran that test with 3dmark 2001 rather then 2000, the results are very different.

    3DMark 2001 on Windows 2000 Professional SP1
    Default Benchmark
    Athlon 1GHz @ 1.33GHz (133 FSB)
    Abit KT7A-RAID motherboard
256Mb PC133 crappy ram (tweaked as high as it would go)
    GeForce 2 GTS (lend) - 32Mb RAM (200MHz core / 333MHz memory)
Direct3D settings at highest quality settings
    3362 3DMarks

Now, all I have to do is decide to go for a GeForce 2 Pro and a 19" Trinitron or a GeForce 3 and remain in fishbowl land! wink.gif

    Win2k Professional sp2
    P3-700@952mhz
    256mb cruical cas2 ram
    Abit bx-raid 133
    20gig maxtor (i think it's 7200rpm not sure)
    Hurcules Geforcemx 175/183 @ 200/205

    I get 2522 on default settings (1024x768x32) and i haven't touched any direct3d settings.

Could do with a new gfx card, but since i only play quakeworld 90% of the time it doesn't really matter smile.gif

One thing I notice with 3DMark is taht you need a fair bit of ram to really make things go.
Also, Justhalf, go for the 19" monitor.
it'll las tyou longer then any graphics card. Well, that is unless those lads release those really cheap plastic TFT displays. Mmmmmmmmm. Damn all power usage too. But still a pipedream.

That's pretty crappy Stone! wink.gif I've seen GTS' pull in over 9k on a similar system. Is there much of a change from when you had the GTS in there?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,049 ✭✭✭superfly

ha well i can underscore all them
    on a PIII 500mhz
    voodoo 3 3000 graphics card

    Abit kt7a
    256 megs crucial pc133
    Duron 800@1000(133mhz fsb)
    Win2k SP2
Radeon 64meg DDR VIVO (latest betas)
    VIA 4.32's
    1024x768x32

Only pulling down 4015 in 3dMark2000 (haven't got 2001 yet)
Seems pretty crap actually. Must get powerstrip and clock up the card a bit.

My GTS gave me about 5700(3dmark2000) not clocked(overclocked 7500ish)it wouldnt run in 2001. 1ghz chip is running at that speed rather than 1.2 and i havenet cranked up the slider bars in harware settings in fairness ive let my system go abit since starting the bussines due to being quite sick of tinker by the end of the day my bios hansnt even been updated smile.gifnot to mention my hdd being built about the time man first took to the skys. That said now i have a Gf3 im tempted to get the damned thing soughted smile.gif.BTW slid the slider bar up tonight only took it to 245mhz by 565mhz windows looked nice and solid but tried to run 3dmark 2001 and it just black screened it.I will overclock every thing in to mins and see what happens.

That score seems a little high, perhaps I'm just forgetting that 3dmark scores higher on win9x than on win2k, 2001 seems to be more in favour of win2k.

I upped the io voltage on my machine, this has the added effect of increasing the voltage going to the ram on my gf2 gts. So it is now getting 3.6v . This makes a tremendous difference, I am now able to clock the ram to 380, and the core to 260. I still only get 6200 3dmarks in 3dmark 2000.
Machine is a p3 600e @ 960 @ 160 fsb, on an abit be6-2 rev2 i440bx board. Only 128 megs of ram at the minute until my crucial arrives.

Seems a little low, but I haven't got directx 8 yet. Might try new graphics drivers as well.
