Anyway, I don't understand why people keep associating certain types of music with certain types of clothes. I wear whatever I look good in, I don't pick clothes to suit my taste in music. I am a huge Pumpkins fan and I don't go around wearing what Billy Corgan wears because frankly I think it looks very errr different Also why does everyone seem to only listen to one genre here. I listen to things that are vastly different from each other like New Order, Primus, Sonic Youth, Leftfield and Aphex Twin.

So AW and any "nu-metalers" out there, stop dressing to express your music taste/anger (circle as appropriate) and listen to other genres of music.

Jesus Angelwhore with all this talk of different "Metal types" I think you should open a new thread call different types of metal.
But anyway back on topic.
I cant stick any of this nu-metal crap.Seem like as someone else put it "boy bands with guitars."
Im still an Old metal fan(Am I allowed to say that) ie.Maiden,Priest etc. and all those 80s metal bands but in my time there wer really kind of 5 or 6 types of metal.
You had yer "heavy metal"-ie-Iron Maiden.
Speed Metal- ie Anthrax
Thrash metal- ie Kreator
Death metal- ie Pardise lost etc
Doom Metal-lost for an example here since it was not really my scene.
Then you had "crossover metal"Like Faith no more,DRI and in my opinion this is kind of where this nu-metal started.Funky bass overlaid with DJs scratchin and crap lyrics.
I think its just a phase that metal is goin through at the minute-people will eventually see through the commercialism of it and tire of it.
Then I am predicting that we will have the next phase of metal

Apart from Primus, who I think are dismal, I listen to the bands you mention. But I think it's more of a stigma that people who listen to metal, listen to nothing but. I mean, look at bands like Dead Can Dance, Mortiis, and the like... You simply couldn't call them metal at all, but it's mainly the 'metalheads' who listen to them. Odd.

Now, I usually go out to Alternative clubs and such. I listen to a lot of it. But in general, I find people into 'Indie' and Alternative music in general far more closed-minded and ignorant towards other styles of music than people into metal, and suchlike.

But don't be too sure about that I dress to 'express music/anger'. Personaly, I find that rather insulting. I'm not an angry person, and I never claim to be. But sure, I do like a good arguement.
