OS problem

Hey

when I boot up my comp it starts as normal but now the CD drive is gone!!! I can access it if I use a boot up disk with some generic drivers so I definitely know it's not a physical problem. And the active desktop recovery screen comes up too when the booting up is finished... Anyone got any idears?

My psychic powers tell me you have not formatted in over 5 years and are using windows98/98se

Do a dirty install by booting from cd-rom drive and re-installing wind0ze if you just need it back quick with minimal fuss.

It's time to backup re-format and re-install imo.

That or there could be something silly in your config.sys or likewise that is causing it to not be seen.

of course it does...windows 98 boots it's GUI from DOS.
you type setup /? to get a list of options for setting up with.
setup is located in the root and the \win98 directory of the cd
