I want to encourage people to sign up to the Beam site & boards, let them know that there is a market for the type of service they are proposing.

I know, we've all see a million promises over the past few years & therefore we all have our sceptic shades on, but it can't hurt.

Could someone clear this up for me.

Is it possible to play games at all with this ? Or is it just about imopssible as its a satelite connection ?

Does it affect your download's ? Like a bit of cloud or bad weather would cut out your connection

    Wait..
Either my eyes are going bad, or this is no better than Eircom's ADSL? - Infact, it may just be worse..
Sure it's available country-over, but the setup is over 650e? - Installation, and connection fee..

    Then its 200 euro's a month?

Someone, explain to me why this is good news.

Here's a post from the Beam Forum about service:

    Here the info for Ireland

Users will need a wireless 802.11b card.
External antenna is required until within 1 mile or less from tower (AP)

Cost for the client kit (if needed) is 150GBP

    Connection fee is 29GBP
Airtime fee is 19GBP per month for 100kbps

This will be the standard offering with higher rate of speed in some areas.
Some areas will have satellite backhaul, which means it is ideal for browsing, email, and ftp only. Use other than this is not supported nor does it mean that your application will not work. We just can't support it with our staff.

Tester will have special deals, please register for more information under wireless.

I think that everyone should at least express there interest in this at http://beamsolutions.net/register.html . Businesses have long been complaining that there is no interest of broadband in Ireland, if you guys don't show an interest they'll be proved right. It costs nothng to express your interest either
