I refrained from a top 10 or top 5 or whatever. Just a simple question, what are the music videos you like most and why?!

The two that stand out in my head, and I suspect always will are:

RATM- Sleep now in the Fire. (Funny, ferocious. The "who wants to be filthy f**king rich" sketch is funny, and manages to be quite informative and worrying at the same time)

A Perfect Circle- Three Libras (Beautifully shot, striking imagery, just...brilliant, and a great song too. I think the video and music compliment each other excellently)

I'll actually mention Rammstein- Links 2,3,4 too. Saw it for the first time in a while there today, funny and clever. Goe Ants!

I think that the The Frank And Walters videos to "This is not a song " and "Afer All" are superb.

The Best Of cd is out pretty soon.

Both worthy vids alright, that dodgy Zane fellow off mtv had picked "Drop", so i saw it for the first time last night, good stuff :)

He screwed up bad though, putting in "Judith" instead of "Three Libras", there's an only one vid from each band rule in effect :-/ Anyone watching his countdown?

    2pac - Do For Love
For the cool claymation and animation.

Company Flow - End To End Burners
For the animated graffiti that travels through the video morphing into words and such. Pretty damn cool looking.

Great video ain't it? :) Didn't know he had a countdown going on, is it a Top 100? I used to have a *bit* of respect reserved for that guy up until he started doing radio + tv promo's for bands that were clearly not "wicked" "cool" or "great". Furthermore, he idolises the bands he interviews, as if he's a teenage fan: tut, tut.

Zane also put in "Do The Evolution"By Pearl Jam....

    That video was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO cool;)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 681 ✭✭✭Kopf

I saw some of Zane's countdown, there was a great video by the roots in there. very funny.

    but....

the greatest music video by far, of all time is.....

1979 by the smashing pumpkins. pure beauty.

33 is also a lovely video (by the pumpkins too), shot with a camera (not video camera). adds a cool effect.

Anything from Tool. I'm not that crazy about their music, but their videos are brilliant! U know when you have a dream and you think to yourself, "how did i ever come up with that?" its just so weord. The cool thing about Tool videos is that you kind of get that same feeling.

As much as I despise the band, Linkin Parks new video "Points Of Authority (Remix)" is absolutely spectacular...

Like something out of Final Fantasy....

oh one i forgot, definatly requires a mention:

    aphex twin - windowlicker.

(on another point, don't see what the big fuss was with the "Come To Daddy" video. totally overhyped in my opinion. great song though.)

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,945 ✭✭✭D-Generate

    Beastie Boys - Sabotage
    Aphex Twin - Window Licker
    Weezer - Buddy Holly
Radiohead - Just (any lip-readers out there)
and the majority of the Pumpkins videos are well done.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,155 ✭✭✭ykt0di9url7bc3

freak on a leash > KoRn
    window licker > Aphex twin
do the evolution > Pearl Jam
    atom bomb > fluke

massive attack videos must really get a mention too..

protection (again michael gondry directed, can't say enough about him)/karma coma/teardrop/unfinished sympathy all amazingly great and above all original videos which (apart from teardrop) have been copied and parodied time and time again.

their dvd is well worth the purchase (as is bjorks volumen).

for those interested the director of bjork's "all is full of love" (my favourite music video as already mentioned earlier), chris cunningham done the aphex twin "come to daddy" video and "windowlicker" videos as well.

Chris Cunningham has directed loads more stuff aside from Aphex.

Squarepusher's "Come on My Selector", Portisheads "Only You", Madonnas "Froze" and "36 Degrees" for Placebo.

    All top quality vids.

Anything by Roman Coppola is usually good as well, like Daft Punks "Revolution 909".
