right so ive found a ati all in wonder pro . im just wanting to mess around with it tonight what programs do i need to be using ??? is there anything in paticular that might go wrong ? then the all important encoding it ? any programs for encoding it ?

I expect you have a tv card. All you have to do is hit the record button and it should automatically record it as mpeg/mpeg2 format onto your hard drive. After you done that goto vcdhelper to find out all the info you'll need on compressing and burning to vcd format.

Although you didn't state whether or not you wanted VCD/divx. VCD's will playin some DVD so you might want to go that way. If you're only going to be watching them on your computer. Then divx is the way to go. More help at various sites...
