    Does your browser allow cookies to be set? If not, then that's the problem, the userid, hashed userpassword, last visited time etc are all stored in there.

    it's stopped happening, but it was happening a lot last night- it's fine now.

    btw, yes my browser likes cookies, so it's probably just my fat hands mashing the keyboard and messing everything up! i must get one of those dialling wands!
