    Hi Guys.
A while since my last post but when looking for help I know this is the
    place to go :-)
Anyway to cut to the chase. Next week I've a meeting with my personell
dept. regarding negotiations for on call payments. At present I provide IT
support 24/7 as well as doing my 9-5 shift . There are four of us and we do
a week in every four. This is a very busy company which operates 24hrs a day
and I can expect calls at any hour of the day or night, as well as W/Es,
bank holidays etc. I also have to do on site visits and remote dial-in's.

My problem is that I've no bench mark figures in which to state our
case. What I need is people in a simular position to give me a bit of info
and advice so I can have an idea of the industry standard (if there is one?)
and can go into the meeting with some solid fact and figures and also where
we stand with the Gov. legislation on work practices etc.
Any help would be appreciated and kept in confidence.

    Thanks in advance.

    There's some info at:

Not too sure how useful it'll be to ya though.

    Best of luck!

    What does your contract say?

I think you are entitled to payment for one quarter of the time that you are 'on call'.

Look at the Government section in the front of the 'White Pages' phone book - green(?) pages. Look for the Department of Entreprise and Employment (not the Department of Public Entreprise). They have an Employment Rights Section that takes calls and can provide advice or leaflets.

Changing call sign to SIERRA PAPA OSCAR OSCAR FOXTROT.
