A man who lived on the 13th floor of a bldg. ( the penthouse) took the elevator down one day and went to the store for a few groceries.
Coming back from the store the man walks up 13 flights of stairs rather than getting back on the elevator with his arms full of groceries.

    why does he do this...everytime?

I realize this is an old one but I just remembered it today and it made me smile....

answer to follow in 10 minutes.
    take some guesses...

Or maybe he's just a fat bastard whose normal weight is just below the limit for the lift so that when he has the groceries with him as well it'd break?

Not sure I get that one - if he's a midget, surely he can't reach the buttons going up or down, and can't reach the call button on the 13th floor either...?

If he is a midget, the assumption is that he is not tall enough to press the buttons.
However, how did he manage to get down ?

ok, he is a midget, pressing the 1st floor button is obviously closer than pressing the 13th floor button, the buttons looking like this
    13
    12
    11
    10
    9
    8
    7
    6
    5

The zero button is always at the bottom of the button panel.

    Heres another old one so:

    The each caught 1 fish.
But only 3 fish were caught.
    How come?

Heh heh - well I guess we aren't all blessed with your in depth knowledge of lift button layouts :)

Ever noticed that telephones number from the top whereas calculators number from the bottom. It's occasionally caused me to dial the wrong person or perform the wrong calculation that has... :(

Hey I know this one - there are only three men there, one of them being father to one and son to the other.

I feel that the first one was ****, and has many answers, depening on technical configs of the lift....... IE max weight laod and button layout. Also the full arms is a possibility.

I don't necessarily buy that one - if it's his arms that are full, then they must essentially be tucked right through the handles of the carrier bag which means his hands are free to press the button.

Unless, of course, the weight of the bags is such that he can only lift his arms high enough to reach button 0 and not button 13 :)

But couldn't he put the bags down?

Also if he is a midget, why not stand on the groceries?
