    Here's the shortlist

ROOTS MANUVA Run Come Save Me
    DOVES The Last Broadcast
    BEVERLEY KNIGHT Who I Am
GEMMA HAYES Night On My Side
    THE STREETS Original Pirate Material
    THE CORAL The Coral
    JOANNA MACGREGOR Play
ELECTRIC SOFT PARADE Holes In The Wall
    THE BEES Sunshine Hit Me
    GUY BARKER Soundtrack
    DAVID BOWIE Heathen
    MS. DYNAMITE A Little Deeper

Click here for the Mercury Site

Pleasantly surprised to see Gemma Hayes there, I'd like to see Roots Manuva win but twill prolly be The Streets.

    Opinions please

[edit] Leaving Ms.Dynamite and Guy Barker out of the poll, as I can't fit more than 10 options[/edit]

aye the streets or the bees will most likely win i'd say.
that said run come save me would be my favourite album from that list.. and thoroughly deserves the nomination and prize.

Hey I wanted to vote for Ms Dynamite....

The Last Broadcast by the Doves is a superb album, right up there with their debut of a couple of years back. I wouldnt mind that winning, but doubt it will somehow.

Going by how the panel normally vote it will probably be 'the streets' I reckon.

Oh dear god NO! I hate gemma hayes' music. Hopefully Dove's will win, they're superb IMO. Failing that, The Streets.

Wasn't too pushed about the Doves album. I'd love to see Gemma win (new single out in the shops this week - go buy it!)

    Voted for Gemma Hayes.
I am upset that lost prophets werent on it. They are a british act. This is just another example of the Industry`s bias against american-style rock n roll.

Well tbh I've only heard one of the albums.
Roots Manuva, and well it's a really good album so it gets my vote.

"2NA and Manuva get hit in the gut" :D

I've never liked Rap or Hip-Hop or whatever, but I do hope the Streets win - everything I've heard from that album is genius.

The Streets narrowly edging out Roots Manuva

I actually like the Electric Soft Parade. Roots Manuvas album is pretty damned good too.

    The streets, oh god no.

From what I've seen of them live....I hope the Coral win. They were absolutely brilliant at the Ambassador and then again at Witnness. Haven't listened to their album yet (only out 29/7) but I'm getting it today.

    scallyrock!!

Those of you who think the streets are overrated will love the parody Original Farmer Material by The Bleets(as in sheep bleeting).
"Went down to the pub,had a game of pacman
landlady is a friendly woman, once slept with Gene Hackman:D )
Its getting alot of play on Chris Moyles show, weekdays from 3 till 5:45.The bleets have a site where you can download the track-dunno the adress but you could check out www.bbc.co.uk/radio1 and look for a link somewhere.
As for the nominations who are half of these artists?Ive only ever heard of 7 of them, and of them ive only heard anything by Roots Manuva,Ms Dynamite and David Bowie, plus perhaps one or 2 others.Who the feck are half of them?
