Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

An insider at Sky has confirmed that the company is due to announce a massive £100 price down on the Sky+ box.

Will that translate to a €160 drop for ROI viewers?

I don't think so, we don't have it here to get a price reduction! There is no value on Sky+ here, as the service is unavailable.

But it would look silly if Sky had a substantial difference between the UK and RoI price of Sky+ when it launches here.

If Pace sell boxes to the retailers for 33% less, the same ratio will apply here in Ireland. If it didn't, everyone would get them sent over from the UK, bypassing the Irish retailers.
Note: There is no mention of the £10 subscription going down.

See? That's because the £10 sub is Sky's money. Sky are forcing Pace to sell them cheaper, but Sky is not reducing its costs for Sky+, oh no.

Sky have them over a barrel.

Look at their respective financial positions!

Heres the deal, Pace will knock 33% off the retail price of the Sky Plus box.
In return Pace will pocket a reputed 33% from the Subscription charge until 2005.
Pace are obviously annoyed at being forced to go down this road, because they are already selling the boxes at a loss for £300 retail.
The reason Sky are flexing their muscles are the extremely poor sales of the Sky+ boxes (25,000 to date) for massive investment in development of Software/hardware engineering.

Simple solution: Scrap the Subscription charge altogether. Make the functionality available to all.
