New MTV channel planned?

    This is from the mtv2 message board:
    MTV have just announced plans to launch a new channel. "MTV247", which will feature "a mix of established and upcoming independent music, and will focus on more experimental acts", will run for 24hrs a day with no advertising. the station will also feature extended interviews with both old and new artists. it has been said to be an attempt by MTV to fill the void left by the recently-revamped MTV2.

    Can anyone confirm this?

    If MTV2 (or M2 when it first launched) couldn't do it the first time around what would be the point in launching a replacement for a failed formula?

    MTV2 tried being an alternative music TV channel without adverts and obviously had to change plans.

    They are now showing an adidas ad. It the past they showed the Nike ad with Cantona (only the full version) and they showed a 5 minute ad for PS2 a few months ago too.

    As long as they don't resort to Time Life Music ads or "I consolidated all my existing debts into one easy monthly payment" ads. :D
