Two of Americas best instrumental guitar acts come to town in a double header line up that cannot be missed! Pleasing all Metal head crazed fans and Indie Punkheads alike The Dillinger Escape Plan and The Icarus Line Created by the merger of metal and new-school hardcore, the furious din of the Dillinger Escape Plan is the perfect embodiment of intensity, cathartic rage, urgency, and forward-thinking. Having none other than Faith No More's Mike Patton singing on their latest EP and.given their abilities and relative youth, it¹s not out of the question to believe that something this intricate and focused could develop into a paradigm to be followed, a yardstick by which other bands are measured. The Icarus Line¹s live show is like seeing Satan having a temper tantrum, but knowing he¹s not mad at you, thus enabling you to enjoy the carnage. Joe Cardamone¹s thundering vocals can cut through glass smoother than a Ginzu knife, while Aaron and Alvins¹s guitars aesthetically antagonize the listener like nobody since Greg Ginn when Black Flag was hunting people down in the early eighties.

The force known as the Dillinger Escape Plan was formed in March, 1997 in North New Jersey by Ben (guitars), Chris (drums), and Dimitri (vocals). Armed only with a simple desire to correct the musical misdeeds of their former bands, the trio added bassist Adam and set about writing material with the aim of pleasing their harshest critics: themselves.

These early steps surfaced shortly thereafter in the form of a six-song self-titled mini-CD on Now Or Never Records. The quartet started making regular stops to unleash their devastating live show in basements, houses, punk spaces, record stores and tiny, underground clubs throughout the NorthEast and MidWest.

The foresome added John on second guitar in the fall of Œ97 and recorded their now-infamous "demo" at Trax East Studios (HATEBREED, HUMAN REMAINS, SNAPCASE). Named Under The Running Board, the eight minute blast of intense riffing, near-maddening technical complexity, flawless execution, and frayed vocal beatings had fans and critics searching the floor on hands and knees for their heads mere seconds after the opening salvo The Mullet Burden. Rarely had something so intricate been so focused. Under..., consisting of only three songs, received rave reviews internationally and was remarkably named as one of the top releases of 1998 by numerous publications worldwide.

Tales of the band¹s infamous live performances continued to spread like wildfire as reports surfaced in fanzines and major publications alike. DILLINGER... hit the road for their second tour in the summer of 1998, bringing their absolutely ferocious live assault to bear upon the East coast, Midwest and Eastern Canada with BOTCH and JESUIT. The tour¹s final show was an absolutely blistering set on the Relapse Stage at the 1998 Milwaukee Metalfest. Brian Benoit, formerly of JESUIT, replaced John on guitar in November of Œ98. A split CD with NORA was released on Ferret, and another East Coast trek followed, this time in the company of CAVE-IN and CONVERGE, before the band returned home to begin writing material for their first full-length effort.

A split 7" with DROWNING MAN was issued on Hydra Head in May of 1999 and sold out its limited edition pressing of 3,000 in one day. DILLINGER completed writing the full-length and again entered Trax East Studios with Steve Evetts to record. The result of the band¹s labours is Calculating Infinity, a lethal, unprecedented combination of metal and hardcore. Calculating... sees DILLINGER maturing by leaps and bounds as the new material incorporates elements of jazz-fusion amidst the semi-controlled chaos. Dimitri¹s vocals are far more intense than ever before, adding both spoken and whispered passages to his established arsenal. Stunning technicality, intense vocal punishment and total musical proficiency are immediately evident as songs like 43% Burnt, Sugar Coated Sour and the title track resoundingly attest.

In August 1999, with Calculating... still over a month away from its release date, the band was invited to open for none other than MR.BUNGLE on the band¹s 45-date U.S. Tour, based on the strength of both Under The Running Board and their frenetic live show. From here things have just exploded further BUT ENOUGH ALREADY - get yourself down to The Music Centre for to witness the amazing sounds of - THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN...a psycho-overload of adrenaline soaked intensity...a band fast on the rise.
