Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

You posted it here on the admin board, and on the wanted board (http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?s=&postid=544875#post544875) - that's what he meant.

Oh and lets not forget the post on the work board: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?s=&postid=544872#post544872

Aren't you going to give any information on the job, tell us what's involved? Or is it something dodgy so you can't?

apart from that you'll probably get slaps for advertisment.

Ahh the old "work from home". It's might be a scam but maybe not.

Most of these tend to be Amway type selling programs where no one gets rich except those who pull more into the pyramid.

Here's another link on the Work from home signs. Worth a read.

You'll find that most work from home sellers won't pitch their sale in the advert.

Looking for honest, dependable associates who are interested in earning a six figure part time income from the comfort of their own homes. This is not a get-rich-quick scheme, but a proven method to generate a full time income with part time effort. To learn how to become part of this revolutionary business, email me at mary_hynesie@campus.ie. Have a great day!

    stupid bitch.

Why dont you FUCK OFF with your Work From Home spam and either take an ad with us or just DIE.

I think we should mail mary_hynesie@campus.ie and tell her to FUCK off.

    Here's my letter to her.

    "Dear Ms Hynesie,

Let me explain to you why you are a leech on the arse of humanity. (as you have clearly identified yourself with your tagline)

Firstly "Leech" cf: a parasite. An organism that feeds from another healthy organism. You dont aid us in running this community AT ALL. you arrive and take take take.
You dont help with a sustainable system of communication you simply want a free ride on our goodwill.

Arse of humanity: Thats us, we dont want to be "Just Like Mike" we dont want to be the "New Generation" as defined by the Pepsi Max marketing dept.

We sure as hell dont want people like YOU hanging around our site. You live on the desperation of people who think that you are actually telling the truth when you talk about 6 figure sums working from home. You feed on other peoples depression and despair and make profit from it.

You piss me RIGHT OFF and you come to something we've built and try and use it for your own selfish means!

Let me explain this to you in simple terms even a parasite like you can understand. You are a festering boil on the backside of the human race and the sooner we blast the third of the population who are JUST LIKE YOU into space in a spaceship bound for a distant planet the better for everyone who can remain here and live on Earth in a free and equal society.

    DIE, Bitch, DIE.

    Your's Sincerely,
    DeVore.

    Devore,
You are a very sad and ignorant little person.
I don't know why I am even wasting my time replying to the comments made about the mail I posted.
This was a genuine offer and while I am reaping the benefits I will spare a thought for you sitting at home in front of your computer leading your sad little pathetic life.

    FOAD please.

The alternative is to have your address (which has been posted) added to every spam list all the sad ignorant people here can think of (I'm sure I can spare an hour over the weekend in order to get you your fix of sexy midget goats).

Ponzi schemes and similar aren't welcome anywhere, least of all here. This is a community. The rules on commercial advertising are clear.

Hate to paraphrase a recent popcorn flick but...

    Answering Criticisms and Queries
This section will enable you to answer any criticisms. Don't be intimidated by wild accusations thrown at you,
always be positive and help to educate someone.
    It's A Chain Letter
A chain letter contains up to 6 names and addresses. You're invited to send money, usually $1
    - $5. When you have sent the money you are entitled to cross off a name and put your name in the position on the
list. Then you copy that letter as many times as you like and post them.
To be a legal MLM based type business it must fulfill one or more of the following:
    a) The entry fee must not be larger than £75
    b) There must be no encouragement to purchase as large an inventory of products available at the highest discounts
available, before obtaining orders from customers or other distributors, and with no refund policy.
    c) A written contract between company & distributor
    d) Training or real concern about selling products to the public.
Personal note: Although I haven't personally taken up chain letter offers, I can see no reason why chain letters are
illegal - this is supposedly a free country we live in-so if Mary or John wish to send $1 or $5 to a person at the top
of the list, why shouldn't they? It's their money! Think about it. No-one tells them it's illegal to buy a scratch card
or spend $10 a week on the lottery. So, just why are chain letters illegal??
    It's Pyramid Selling
Ask the person, what is pyramid selling? In order to find out what their concept of it is. Then let them know this
isn't pyramid selling. It may be worth pointing out that all businesses are pyramid structured - e.g. Food stores
employ thousands of check out assistants to sell their products, and they are paid for this.
The only difference in the marketing structures is that not only does the check out assistant sell the product but
they can receive the full income themselves from their sales and invite their customers to do the same if they want
    to.
What a fantastic way to recruit agents! It's brilliant! It doesn't matter if the product, is paint, perfume, music, books
or a course. As long as the product has value. What a wonderful way to distribute -everyone gets a real share of the
profits for their efforts - unlike the pittance a shop worker can expect.
Pyramid schemes didn't sell anything! Just positions in a matrix.
It was corruption of a very sound marketing concept, which has left a nasty taste and it is taking a lot of time to put
right. While the unethical and ruthless individuals were abusing pyramid selling there were many genuine
companies, who are still around and are more successful than ever. Amway boasts top TV stars as agents even.
    Market Saturation
Anyone can prove that the market place will saturate in a very short time by adding up a few figures. So, whatever
happened? This program was born in 1989 - nearly a decade ago! It doesn't diminish it grows in success. Let's
look at figures again - but this time with music. There are just 12 notes in an octave (counting halftones) and a
grand piano normally has 8 and a half octaves - so that is over 100 notes. Thousands of years, and all that music
written, and yet new pieces of music are still being written, all out of 100 notes!
Life is dynamic, moving, ever-changing - nothing stands still or remains the same - including the market place out
there. Every second it is changing. Someone leaves school, someone is born, someone dies, someone marries,
    someone divorces... never static.
This is a clip from one of the letters we received from a supplier. "When I once mentioned to a very good boss of
mine (many years ago) that his market was becoming saturated, he said "When every adult person in the World is
driving his own Rolls Royce come back and talk to me about market saturation."
    It's too Late to Join
This is tied up with the market saturation concept. The idea is if you don't get in right at the start, then it's not
worth doing. This is simply not true - if it were then MLM companies would not still be making huge profits 15
years on - because those profits come from people joining.
You can also let your potential client know that there are constant updates and revisions. Now if I, the author,
didn't think it was worth the effort.. I sure wouldn't be wasting my time on updates, revisions and subsequent
courses. I only put my energies into worthwhile projects. I wouldn't waste my time, it's far too precious.
These Schemes Never Make any Money
Wrong. What this means is "I've never made any money from direct mail." That does not mean that you won't. It
just means that the person making the statement didn't have the necessary qualities needed to make it in business.
It's not Fair to get People to Join
Far from not being fair - and by the way you can't force anyone to join anyway - you are offering a great chance to
enhance their finances and taste freedom. You are inviting people to take part in a product that could revolutionize
their personal world. 20% of the armed forces have been made redundant. All those soldiers need a job to survive.
What is fair?... Refusing to offer PROJECT 21 ?... Or offering PROJECT 21 and giving a soldier the chance to
have his own business. Remember that no-one has to run this as a business - they are perfectly entitled to be a
student of The Wealth Creation Program Course only and to use the information from both the manual and the
course to start up ANY business.
    It's nothing but Junk mail
Simply point out that TV ads are not called TV junk and newspaper and magazines don't call their ads 'junk print!"
So, what's the difference? It's an insult - you have a good sound business proposition that you wish to let others
know about - and give them the chance to see If they'd like to participate. If they don't . ..okay. Great ...no more to
be said.. There should be no need to get abusive about it. Be firm, and put your viewpoint across you just might
make an intolerant person change his attitude!
    Abusive Replies
If you do receive any abusive replies back from a mailing - either ignore it - or challenge the person. In every single case I have discovered a highly disillusioned, disappointed and often bitter person behind the action.

I am not trying to "suck anyone in" to anything. I am presuming, maybe incoreectly, that the people on this forum have minds of their own and can make their decision based on the information I will provide them with. But from what I have seen so far most of the people on this forum are sheep and are simply being led by the sceptical few. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

nothing in life is free. You are not doing this out of the goodness of your heart so that others can earn "6 figure sums". You are gaining something yourself by trying to trick others so YOU can make money.

You are not exactly welcome here.

I love the fact that your post includes the line
So, just why are chain letters illegal??
This might just let you know that they are illegal. Which means rather than adding you to some goat porn mailing lists, we might just do ourselves a favour by sending all your details to the Gardai, the Minister for Justice and the DPP, as well as your ISP who will almost certainly cut you off and your place of work, who may be rather interested in your attempt to perpetrate fraud.

    Let's do the maths
    One letter - six people
    1 6
    2 36
    3 216
    4 1,296
    5 7,776
    6 46,656
    7 279,936
    8 1,679,616
    9 10,077,696
    10 60,466,176
    11 362,797,056
    12 2,176,782,336
    13 13,060,694,016

Even assuming you only send your message to six people and that they all fall for it, it only takes 13 levels before the scheme fails due to its requiring twice the world population to keep it going. Realistically the scheme will fail long before that for two reasons:
    1. Not everyone is as stupid as you
    2. The number of people using the Internet, even at the most liberal estimates is less than 400 million.

So, applying this, if you assume you get one fool per thousand (and that they get one fool per thousand and so on - and that every fool falls for it once and that those who aren't foolish don't fall for it at all - and that everyone only gets the message once)...

    Iterations Recipients Fools
    1 6,000 6
    2 36,000,000 36
    3 216,000,000,000 216

So this time it doesn't even make it to three iterations before rather dramatically requiring 35 times the world's population.

What have we learned from this?

Anyone who signs up can't do maths.

    And is an idiot.

The only people who make money are the people who either started the chain or are very near the top. The posting of the "rules of what to say when..." would indicate that this person is neither. And if you sign up for it you'll be even further down the chain.

And anyone who's replied to the initial poster should read the maths very carefully. Then realise that broadly speaking, the math is correct. Then carefully make a decision not to fall for things like this. Send the money if you want - it'll teach you a wise lesson.

Links that may be of use if you need further convincing:
    http://www.impulse.net/~thebob/Pyramid.html
    http://www.lectlaw.com/files/cos67.htm
    http://www.siliconvalley.com/mld/siliconvalley/news/2945348.htm
(the last one is interesting - lists the penalties in the US for someone who orchestrated something very similar - don't forget - all pyramid schemes are illegal - there are similar restrictions over here)
But from what I have seen so far most of the people on this forum are sheep and are simply being led by the sceptical few.
Naw - just some of us would be pretty annoyed at someone like you trying to con people out of their hard-earned cash. Anyone who thinks you're providing an honest legal service is free to say so. After reading all the comments I'll bet they won't think anything of the sort. And legal or not, I've proved that you can't make money from it (unless you know a big concentration of stupid people - who will be baying for your blood when they realise they've wasted their money)

I've nothing to gain from showing you up as a fraudster - you have something to gain from lying and trying to pretend you're not (or worse - you actually fell for this hook line and sinker and actually believe in it - if so, you read through the maths).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,608 ✭✭✭✭sceptre

Just a little update before I tally off to bed.

It's definitely a scam from top to bottom.

    How do I know?

Because I just read the "course" that's being sold. Esentially it's a 12 month course, in twelve parts, each of which is sent to the subscriber once a month on payment of 90 dollars. That's per month. 1080 dollars in total. (Mary's fee may be different but I doubt it - this is what the course tells you to charge)

What does the course teach the subscriber?
Essentially how to pimp the "course" to other people. It is MLM (the bad kind), even though the report/course says from the beginning that it isn't. The techniques listed are basically the same as involving a pyramid scheme (not specifically a Ponzi scheme). It purports to be a manual in how to sell any product by direct mail. And I suppose in some ways it is. However the product that it primarily teaches you to sell is the product you're reading. The only sales pitch it offers is that the person you sell it to can photocopy it and sell it on again. That's not a course in direct mail or even direct marketing. It's a pyramid scheme. See previous posts on why it essentially doesn't work. The only reason it's still around is that there are in fact a staggering amount of stupid people who are trying to improve their lives. From my own initial research, about 70 million Americans have reportedly signed up for various Amway-type schemes. Which is fine while Joe is selling Jack toothpaste, Jack is selling Mary hampers and Mary is selling Joe ready-made cuckoo clocks. It's when the product is of no use other than for resale (in other words there is never an end consumer) that a non-Ponzi pyramid scheme is doomed to make many people poorer with nothing to show from it. Even a scheme with a product can have the same result, as Hobbes has pointed out (loved the Sacramento stuff - put me in mind to do the same:D). And I'm pretty sure Mary's marketing material has no answer for that.

    How does it work?
Basically there's an initial outlay of 90 dollars. There is a free trial for the first part, which is basically just letting you know how much money you can make from the course and some info on how to sell it, as well as some nifty relaxation techniques and a workbook for you to fill out how much money you think you can make. After that it's 90 bucks a pop. Here's the clincher: you can start selling the course the minute you receive the first part. In other words you don't have to actually understand the whole thing before pimping it out over the Internet/snail mail. This is something that some might see as a good thing: after all, there's no risk to you, is there? There are two responses to this. Firstly, the subscriber can't start selling the course until they're assured of being able to receive the rest of the material - which means they have to start sending the money. Secondly, the sellers are selling something they don't understand, given that there are up to 11 parts they haven't seen.

Where do I find this ingenious report so I can scam money out of others?
Not from me you don't. I'm not sending it to anyone - period. Our good friend Mary Hynes(ie?) left one nice piece of information in one of her posts that leads (eventually) to the full report. If you can find the report online good luck to ya, you'll see it wasn't worth the money. I'm not posting a link partly because the report was adapted by a particular publisher in 1997 and is under copyright. It isn't worth the money. And even if it was, it just tries to teach scam techniques. If Mary has invested the full whack of money, she knows. If she hasn't, she'll realise in eleven months.:D

Now you can call us "negative thinkers". As long as you underline the last word:p You've been scammed. Deal with it. Make your post anywhere else and anyone here who finds it will probably post a link back to this thread for everyone else to see.

    You've just been 0wn3d by boards.ie

    ROFL.. that's classic.

It's not a chain letter. it's Amway she's selling. You can learn more about Amway MLM here. It even has a bit on how to call people "Losers"
This is precisely why distributors are told to avoid negative people and treat people who do not see the wisdom of the business as "losers". IBOs need to feel superior to those not seeing the wisdom of the plan, lest they question themselves after the numerous "no's" they will encounter. AmQuix is done on faith alone as there is little factual data available on incomes or pin retention rates.

You can make money, however it's not from selling your goods to your friends, it's by sucking more people in under you to buy bulk.

If you don't read that site, at least read this. It's from a former top level MLM manager. Explains how it all works and where the real money is made.

Naw leave these posts here for the other "positive" people :) that may cross our path.

As for our new friend Bernie next time look before you leap. Given the varied personalities on boards alot of us have come up against get rich schemes before. I've been involved in one (Amway) and I've sat thru introduction sessions on others (to give a family member advice on them). They are in my opinion and experience an extreme waste of time and resources.

Now please go away and peddle your wares on Newagent & Chipper windows like the majority of get rich loser schemes out there.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

what i'd REALLY like to know, bernie_1974_10, is IF you are earning so much money, and are so sucessful,WHY are you so desperate to sell it to us?

Thats great bernie/ mary_hynesie@campus.ie I will be giving your email address to all my friends and mailing lists so that they can all contact you. It will be nice to have a working email address for someone that is providing such a service. This trype of offer, I feel, should not go unnoticed in this world of spam emails that everyone gets nowadays. Nice to know that there is one shining light of truth and honesty that can blow away all of the blocked/junk mail that we all get in our email every day and can make us all feel a little bit better and a lot more fulfilled and enriched in many more ways thaan just monetarily.

I look forward to adding your email address to the many that I have. I wish you luck with your investment.

Excellent news, thanks muchly, that's great, good going, fair play, areeba areeba.

    Hey guys,

Ok ok, enough already. I admit defeat.:o

To be perfectly honest, I haven't paid out a single cent for this thing nor have I asked anyone to send me any money. I will admit I am guilty of not doing my research but thanks to you guys I know now what a fool I have been. I'm so sorry and I won't do it again.

I'm just like many other people looking for an easy way to make some cash. I've learned the error of my ways now though and have resigned myself to the fact that I actually have to go and work for a living.

I have to say though, you people here are really enthusiastic about the little things, most people, if they aren't interested in an advertisement just ignore it but you lot really took the time out to research the crap I was trying to sell you and show me up.

I'm really not a bad person just probably naive.

And as for all of you who seem intent on sending me as much crap as you can, that's fine cause seeing as you have the opinion that I am the devil straight from hell I probably deserve it and reading all these new mails will fill up a few hours of my otherwise boring day.

Apologies again for bothering you all but personally I think you all enjoyed taking the piss out of me. But I'm a hard ass and can handle it.

    :):):)

Some us of are doing nothing else at 4am:o

reading all these new mails will fill up a few hours of my otherwise boring day.

Like Mercury_Tilt says, stick around. At best you'll be entertained. At worst you'll waste some time in an otherwise boring day.

People here don't tend to hold grudges (well, except for WWM:))

(edit)Just don't ever say "Eircom are a nice forward-thinking company who care a great deal about their customers and the Irish economy" - that'll put you back to square nought

Hum someone making a new account just to post "sad" is pretty sad. And yes cider does give you diarrhoea so its a good point, tbh

This has to be one of the most entertaining threads that has been posted since the Kev pics.

The fact that she appologised and completely changed her tune afterwards was one of the most hilarious things ever.

Could someone post the original, unedited post? I missed it! I mean really, now that she has told us that it IS a load of bullsh1t, it shouldn't be considered as advertising. :D
