Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

good squad, bar Stephen McPhail (Leeds United) - shows how little options we have when we have to pick him :(

But where is Super Sub David Connolly

Mark my words. Colin Healy is going to be the next _Big_ Irish midfielder. Am delighted to see him included in the squad I must say.

Think everybody who saw Colin Healy play in those friendlies reckoned he had a lot of potential - except McCarthy of course, least we had Lee Carsley.

It's going to be an interesting friendly for sure. By my reckoning Gary Kelly and McAteer are the only members left from the Charlton era so I'll be looking out for who the next 'leaders' of the Irish team will be. Breen and Cunningham still don't convince me as on field leaders so I hope they'll prove me wrong over the coming months.

All I've got to say is that I don't fancy our chances in Moscow when the real competition begins.

Second what the man of Rubber _Skin said Mc Phail is a good player, have seen him play in a few games and apparently he's making his mark in the Reserves League.

    Wish I could believe that!
He still cant break the Celtic first eleven apart from friendlies
Hes highly regarded, but though not to have the bottle yet(if ever) to be a commanding figure in the middle of the park.
So if hes gonna be a real talent its gonna take another few years or a different club that will give him time in the first team!

Anyone ever heard of a lad called John O Shea. He has got to be a better choice then Richard Dunne, especially for a freindly to get him used to the set up.

O'Shea - correct me if im wrong, played against croatia in a friendly ages ago, and after coming on for Ireland for his debut give away a penalty...... :o

I think we should give him a couple of years.....

You are talking of dropping him for several years because he made one mistake? Are you mad? We would not have any defenders if we adopted that attitude with them all.

Joh O Shea should defo be in the squad he's starting to break in the man Utd team this year and more international apperances especially in friendlies would do him no harm at all.

No... not because he made a mistake... he hasn't played enough games for Man United at the minute, maybe if he played more matches maybe then… I don’t want Ireland playing reserve players like Northern Ireland, Wales etc.

I want an Ireland team that has first team players playing week in week out …

Lads! Calm Down, due to Man Utds defender crisis O'Shea has been withdrawn from the Under 21 squad so he can help with baling out in the Premiership and the CL qualifier!

He palyed a good few times for united at the end of last seaon, and will feature alot this season. The Finland game is only a freindly so I think it would have been an ideal time to introduce him to the set up. Considering the central defenders we have I think it is daft leaving him out.

    Stephen Carr (hamstring)
    Richard Dunne (back injury)
Andy O'Brien (shin splints in both legs)
    Steve Finnan (ankle)
    Steven Reid (ankle)
    Clinton Morrison (groin)
    Richard Sadlier (hip)

Pure mental.... what does Mick call up now?

Possibly his last too from what I understand, he just wanted to get the 50 I think...it's a pity, I think he's a good player with a lot of experience which is what we need right now.

I don't know about everyone else but the goal against Holland was one of the best moments of the whole World Cup campaign (of course watching it on a big screen in Slane with 80,000 people may have influenced my judgement :P)

Bloody right. He isn't international class but he's definetly good enough to warrant a place in our squad.
