diesel has also signed on for pitch black 2, which is set before the first film and is about johns chassing riddick and how he got caught.

The Chronicles Of Richard Riddick, as a spin-off from the sci-fi movie Pitch Black.

i also found out that theres at least a trilogy planned.

Well ok less of the intelligent hero but more thought out story lines. People no longer like the story line of 'go in with 1 clip in the hand gun and kill 200 soldiers with a whopping 22 huge explosions' anymore. Im not saying that there are no film like that still being made, but their no making getting the same numbers they used to

I'd be extremely sceptical of a sequel to Pitch Black.
But a prequel does sound very appealing.

lots of people still crave the old 80's action/horror but not as much as they used too.
