I know this isn't strictly related to cars or motors but it has a lot to do with it.

I'm looking into making my computer case a bit quieter. It's not so much the noise but the vibration of the fans and various components in the case.

I found this thing called rubberized undercoating, that's a spray used in the automotive industry for getting rid of vibrations in car audio setups, and also for corrosion protection.

    The spray looks like this:

Anyone know where I'd be able to get one? Preferably in Dublin but I'm not that picky anymore. :)

I remember reading about a thing called Dynamat, used by car audio types. Its a sheet of sound deadening material and theres a spray on foam as well for uneven surfaces.

    Try a car audio specialists.

You can get dynamat at marx computers it costs around 20 euro but IMHO its not worth it, i have it and it makes feck all difference, if you want your pc to run quieter change all the fans to papst fans their easily the quietest

hey it's nice to know marx have them. if i ordered something like that from the uk the shipping would be as much as the mats themselves.

actually, i've switched over to water cooling so the noise is almost completely gone. the only fan left in the case is the power supply one.

i thought the spray would be a lot easier to apply than the mats. and of course, with the mats, you have to cut and glue, which is a pain since i got a really big case.. i might run out of the dampening material, or might have to apply a couple of sheets on each side panel etc. but hey, if i can't get the spray here, might give the mats a chance.

it's more the vibration that i'm concerned about, not the noise.
    thanks for the info!
