Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I'll probably make burgers when she dies. Cant really let some one put a bolt through her head. She keeps me company when I go outside for a smoke when Im at my folks gaff.

I'll Probably be quite sad when she goes.

Am i hallucinating or has this just become a really ****ed up thread?

Also, please dont bug me for Moderatorship, its not a good idea and anyway, I dont actually do any work around here :)
Just post to your local board and quite possibly someone will wander by and push the "make mod" button.

Btw, you are all about to realise that being a mod means jack. hahah.

Well, since you asked, I currently have 2, but down the years there have been several. In the beef trade, you don't get a long time to get sentimental. You get them as weanlings and after 12-18 months, after making them lovely and fat on beef nuts and molasses soaked silage, off to Libya or Kepak, or even to mart, is some other farmer likes the hind-quarters, and change a good heifer into a nice suckler. If I was in the dairy sector (and I wish we were!) I probably would get quite attached to them, seeing them at the gate twice a day waiting to be milked etc.... But no. These are in the gate from the sales, off to the factory in a years time..

The two I have, both bullocks, a Belgian blue and a charolais.

    Damo.

Feel free to wander into the "tyrone" forum to ponder on such matters. Tyrone is more than a place. Its a way of thinking....

Oh yes will do, and there 31 other counties where it can be talked about too. I wouldn't have thought there is enough (or any) farmers round here to discuss rural/farming issues to warrant a seperate board.... :(

I shamelessly propose I be made mod of the Roscommon board, seen as of all the Roscommon people here (all 5 I think lol) im currently the only poor misfortunate one to be still stuck in this god awful place :)

I, being a shameless hussy, put myself forward for Kildare

    a) I was brought up there
    b) I live there (most of the time)

and c) no one else seems to want it ;)

When you see a Meath man moderating the Cavan board you know something is wrong! :p

This is a great idea. Nothing much may come of it but as there's activity on quite a few of the boards already it looks good.

Especially like the way you got around that "oh, Dublin has a board, we want one for West Bogville where I'm from" by just creating them all.

Someone (not I) will want a US board at a guess.

Off I go to abuse my fellow Corkonians and Limerickians (?) (do Limerick people have a collective name? (except for the smartass names))

Meant to add: willing to help Dave out on the Limerick board if traffic gets heavy. Don't see the need for two mods at the moment though

Right thats it!!! I can't hold it in. I'm shamelessly putting myself forward to take the RModeratorship of Cavan from DamoDMC! Can't have a Meath man moderating the Cavan boards yanno?! Thats like Sadam Hussein being the president of the United States!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,049 ✭✭✭Cloud

Unless DDMC wants to willing relinquish his Cavan moderatorship I won't add two moderators for anything but Dublin / Galway / Limerick / Cork...

    :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,051 ✭✭✭mayhem#

And of course I am the only real option as moderator of the Clare board!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 939 ✭✭✭Zyox

Cavan man for the Cavan board?

Tbh, it is wrong to have meath man on it.
    /me flexes his mod-muscles

    ;)

Thats cool... So what do ya say Damo?

And yeah Zyox, I am a Cavan man.

I think its time to flex the benefits of being Vice-Chairperson of LexCorp.

*sends a memo to the LexCorp Persuasion Committee*

The Cavan board will rightly belong to those who need it. Big hairy farmers talking about which was the dryest field of the cutting season. Be Jaysus.

Wow! #1 If Gaddaffi can be the UN head of new department for Africa, then yes, a Meath man can be the Mod of Cavan :)

Wow! #2. There are some Cavan folk with 'puters. :)

As I said in the first post on the Cavan board, it was to píss off Mullagh folk, done for a laff.

So..... to be fair, to find a genuine, intelligent Cavan person (pah!) to mod the board, I will relinquish control and pass it too them.....

Only if someone can give me precise directions to Killinkere AND Knockbride from where they live.

It satisfies all tests. Intelligence honesty, and that they're from Cavan. Only Cavan folk should know of these places. :) For a tie-breaker, I will ask a general question on 10-10-20.

    Best of luck!!

    Damo.

As Knockbride and Killinkere folk say... "Thats a MIGHTY tough queskion!"

OK, I'm from Shercock so I'll start off with Knockbride.

First of all you go down main street past the church on the left past the Manor Farm factory. Keep on that road until it comes to an end on the Knockbride parish border. Put on bog snorting goggles and swim to Canningstown (the heart of Knockbride)...

    Killinkere now...
Right well you go out the Bailieboro from Shercock, keep on the road until you get to the Bailieboro border. Put chains around the tires before driving into Bailieboro (wouldn't want them to be stolen now would you? Once in Bailieboro go out the Virginia road and keep going til you get to Killinkere border. Stop and get out of your vehicle, then get into hovercraft turn right at the only right turn on the swamp then turn left at the T and ladies and gentlemen you are in Killinkere. :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,726 ✭✭✭✭DMC

    Aha!

Knockbride really wasn't that hard for you, less than 4 miles or so...

    Now.... this bits vague...

Problem is..... there is more than one right turn out of Bailie.... a little bit more specific

Well my mind was occupied by some Bailieboro "residents" trying to steal my hubcaps... :D

And the Bailie is in a more central area of the town, so you really have to turn right at the Library at the top of the town down past the barricks. You then ignore the Kells road to your left and you go straight on out the Virginia road.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,726 ✭✭✭✭DMC

Almost there.... now the cross-roads where you turn off for Killinkere..... what church (parish) is on the road to the left? (heading towards Mullagh.)

    Time is ticking...... :D

    (favourite pastime, confuse the Cavanman.)

    It's Saint Killian's isn't it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,726 ✭✭✭✭DMC

Nope, St. Killians is the parish church in Mullagh, but there is a church between Mullagh and Killinkere.

The clue is in the piece you quoted (not the wag pic)
A further clue will involve a copy of the Anglo-Celt.

  • Moderators, Regional North East Moderators Posts: 12,739 Mod ✭✭✭✭cournioni

Damn... eh the only one I could guess is Cross parish church. After that I don't know.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,726 ✭✭✭✭DMC

    played!

    Cross it is! :)

And your prize is the mod-ship of the Cavan regional board. You have proven that some Cavan folk know their arse from their elbow.

My commiserations to the fact that if you have to go to Dublin, not only do you have to go by Sillan Tours, you also have to go through Nobber. Nasty hole.

Cloud (if he hasn't fallen asleep yet on this thread already) will do the prizegiving.....

ok got a quick question for you, me ol buddy, pal, mate, china GORDON has told me that the post for looking after the leitrim board is still available,
What does a person have to do to get in with a chance to protect the good name and character of me home county, the fact that i have admitted to being from there should be enough me thinks.

I would like to be moderator of the carlow board :)

Also, maybe for some of the larger cities you could breack them down into areas, dublin breaking into tallagh (Spelling?) / Inner City / Southside etc ... ?

  • Hosted Moderators Posts: 5,945 ✭✭✭BEAT

well, I have an idea, how about a board for the USA under the abroad section...SInce a lot of users travel and may have questions about where to go, or when they are there they can post about the places they have been, or if people in the states who post here want to put some info in news, or people here have comments...there are just so many possibilities :) and since I am in the states I volunteer to be mod :)
    just a suggestion ofcourse :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,049 ✭✭✭Cloud

Carlow already has a moderator Slydice.

BEAT - good idea, just hadn't gotten around to it. With that, USA is now available and UK has replaced London.
