    Any idea when?
I'm sure Episode 1 will be at Christmas, so there is probably a good chance they will show them all then.

Venom you love for flaming people is quite unusual, as you will get flamed back and the thread will be closed, this happened in another certain humour board thread, and constant flaming will get you banned quite quickly. So stop going around insulting every other person on these boards if you want to be in them for any amount of time.

    Yey Star Wars!Happy days!!:)

there is somethign cool about watching your favourite movies on TV, its probably the feelign that loads of other people at that very second are enjoying the same stuff as you.:)

Pugsley I just posted a joke on the humour board and ended up getting abuse from a bunch of assholes, yourself included, about my sig. That was the reasion the thread was closed.

If people dont like my sig they can put me on ignore. If said people want to start tossing insults my way and I have nothing better to do in work I will reply untill I get bored or find something else to do.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,066 ✭✭✭BKtje

dont think they were chucking abuse at ya. They just said that they found it offensive after which you replied with abuse.
But thats neither here nor there.

[topic] I love watching films on the comfort of my own sofa with some mircowaveable popcorn. It's a different experience than to watching it in the cinema but not less imo :x [/topic]

Watching a fav film on TV does indeed rock but I would always go with DVD or Video over TV due to lack of ad breaks and no censorship.

I have had that plan for a long time now, id say my dvd player will be nonstop for somewhere around 12hours. Cant wait :D

I thought the VHS versions were only out for a limited period. I havent seen any of them in any shop in a long time. In fact the last time I saw the Star Wars videos for sale was in Tesco (then Quinnsworth) when I was in 2nd year I think. So what was that 6 years ago or so.

Saw the ad for the first time today. RTE are really proud of this, aren't they ??

I had to laugh at the voiceover .....

See Star Wars as you've NEVER seen it before! *

    * With ads ??? :p

what other films did the ad say they were showing?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 204 ✭✭artvandelay

Is'nt it funny the way films are always better when there on tv than watching them on a video ? Even if u have it on a video u'll hardly watch it but if u see it on tv one nite u usual end up watching it.

I was well impressed with the top-notch film they're going to show.

I think i saw 'The Score' in there somewhere.
    Thats well worth watching.

    With DeNiro and Norton?
If that's the one you're talking about, I doubt they would be showing that already. Wasnt it only in the cinema late 2001?

Yeah your probable right. It was probably something that LOOKed like the Score.

(U SHOULD RENT THE sCORE though :)

By-the-way, is starwars II out on video yet? Or will it be out soon?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,761 ✭✭✭✭Winters

I saw another ad and they say there gonna show them in September.

See Star Wars as you've NEVER seen it before! Its gonna be REALLY annoying with ads.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,842 ✭✭✭phaxx

Why are the dvd releases for 4-6 taking so long?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,503 ✭✭✭Makaveli

I think the plan is to release them when episode 3 gets released on dvd. So whenever that is. 2006?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,842 ✭✭✭phaxx

    Baaah.

Well..now its gonna take another 2 years  :D

He says he is not gonna realease them till he has "time" to work on them. This means he is gonna have a load of extra features on them which he will have to find. He was gonna release all the DVDs at the same time i think but cos of everyone giving out he is releasing all the new films on DVD once there made.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,626 ✭✭✭smoke.me.a.kipper

on the dvds: also lucas is supposed to be going to do super-special editions of the origonal trilogy. he is supposed to have filmed new fottage of natalie portman to be put into Jedi.

    [on topic]
havnt seen Jedi in ages. (taped New Hope and Empire of sky when they were on last year, but never watched/taped Jedi for some reason)

can wait to see them on telly again (with ads of course ;))

Here, when's 'Episode I special editions' coming out (money grabbing ****)

    :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,802 ✭✭✭thegills

Episodes 4-6 were digitally remastered and released as a 3-pack last year - have it at home. Lucas is probably not releasing them on DVD as he has yet to properly link episode 3 to episodes 4-6. When they are released they will include additional footage detailing the missing link.

no way! adding more special effects is one thing... but you cant start adding additional plot/storylines to old films. WTF?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,608 ✭✭✭✭sceptre

    Saw the ad last night

"See Star Wars as you've never seen it before"

Obviously I instantly thought: yeah, with ads

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 28,128 ✭✭✭✭Mossy Monk

i've just seen the ad for Episode IV. digitally remastered and extended in September

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,092 ✭✭✭Pigman

The only time to watch a star wars movie on terrestrial television is Xmas day if you ask me! But as I have the 4 films on Vid and TPM again on DVD (oh George Lucas loves me!) this announcement hardly sets my pulse running.

Although it would be funny to see 'Luke I am your ....' interupted by an adbreak :)

"I am not pleased to announce, for the first time ever on terrestrial tv.... star wars. Coming September 10th on ITV/UTV"

Humm....so there all getting into showing star wars, saw an ad for it on UTV today. RTE are showing Episode V: A New Hope this Saturday ... cant remember the time. I think its about 6:30 or so... or it might be 9:30 cant remember.

UTV also had the "see it as you have never seen before" crap ... i can guess that means with even more ads then RTE are having then... :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,984 ✭✭✭Venom

My guess is the whole "see they like you have never seen them before" is the remixed/extra bits version that was re-released on video a few years back. These version have never been seen on non sat tv before.

When they do finally get around to sticking the original trilogy on DVD, they'd BETTER have an option to play the originals before they fcuked around with them with those stupid computer graphics that didnt fit in with the other special effects like stupid CG dewbacks/jabba the hut/crappy replacement explosions/crappy musical sequences with crappy cg characters/CHANGING THE GODDAMN CLASSIC ENDING IN RETURN OF THE JEDI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I havent bought ep 1 DVD cos its complete trash, won't buy ep 2 'cos that was complete trash as well, THEY'D BETTER HAVE SOME SYSTEM LIKE THE T2 DISK FOR AN ALTERNATIVE STREAM THAT LETS YOU WATCH THE ORIGINALS BEFORE THEY SCREWED THEM UP IN CHEAP MONEY GRABBING ATTEMPT!!!!
p.s. did i mention i HATED the "SPECIAL EDITION" remix things? ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,066 ✭✭✭BKtje

    i enjoyed episode 2 tbh :p

was much better than the 1st ne way. The originals are still the best tho :D

Or maybe even split into two by the news. RTE also seem to do this during the week but ITV have made it almost compulsory

    Star Wars, pffft!

    Blade Runner :)

    /me sets VCR anyways....

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 90 ✭✭/|/)etal)-|ead

OMG how could you enjoy episode 2 lol ;)
Hmmm Wish I had a DVD burner - digicap them, edit out ad breaks, design and print out fake covers and sell 'em for 50 euros or something hmmmm.... lucas is so crap now that you wouldnt even feel guilty ;)

on a completely unrelated note, anyone know how much the cheapest dvd burner available is? ;P

Tis funny-you may remember i posted a few weeks back as to why well known films like star wars and the godfather never get a terrestrial showing.
Godfather is on this week on Net 2:D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,626 ✭✭✭smoke.me.a.kipper

lucas has already said he wont be releasing the origional trilogy on dvd as they were seen in the cinema. only the special editions / super-special editions (or whatever) will be available. he has said something like the origional versions were not complete finished films, so only the 'finished' films will be out on dvd.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 90 ✭✭/|/)etal)-|ead

OMG THAT'S TERRIBLE!!! thx for lettin me know anyway smak ;)
looks like i'm stuck with rapidly degrading vhs with audio dropouts and picture artefacts :*( Has Lucas gone senile or what? not complete finished films? Oh, sticking in the dodgy cg and crappy deleted scenes (they were deleted for a reason...) really made them complete........... what really pisses me off though is the way they changed the ending in jedi, and of course the crappy cg rendition of jabba the hut :(
I think the original trilogy are available on VCD but don't think it would be much fun changing disks a couple of times-
darth vader "luke, i'm your fa...." PLEASE INSERT DISK 3

  • Registered Users Posts: 183 ✭✭fester

    Peats do DVD-RW < €500.

And since Lucas ain't releasing the originals on dvd, you can copy them from vhs to dvd and be the only one to sell the original on dvd ;)

Make your money back in no time.

Just back from watching the second one tonight - can someone please tell me WHAT THE FÚCK was the deal with those "what is the longest river in ireland?", "What is the capital of Japan?" questions?

    I mean, um, WTF!
    /me hops up and down
Was it an ad for goddamn birdseye fish fingers or something, with that sea captain on it? Was I imagining that?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 111 ✭✭corkey

    :D For the kids:D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,842 ✭✭✭phaxx

Uh-huh. How many big hairy star wars geeks would be watching it compared to little kids who would have fun answering those?

I've just never seen anything like that before, it's plain weird. Why were they on just BEFORE the starwars title screen before the ad break?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,503 ✭✭✭Makaveli

    It's the big saturday movie.
It must be sponsored by Fish Fingers or whatever it was.
    Really annoying though.
As for why they showed the title screen before it is beyond me.
