I have a XP Pro system and Windows 2000 Pro system, Both are giving static IP address, and are on the same subnet mask. In Network Places On my Xp system I can see the Compaq (Win 2k) I can access all shared files from the 2k machine it asks my for a log name to the Compaq, I just use administrator and the correct password. This works ok. But when I try to access my the Xp machine from the W2k machine I get the same

    Enter Network Password
\\dell(this is the xp pro )

    Connect as:
    Password:

When I enter the administor and password from the Xp machine I get incorrect log on. Also I have tried using my user name and password (Im aslo a Admin) I have added my user name to the W2k machine in a local profile to see if this works no joy :(

    Any ideas?

Just set the administrator password to be the same on both machines and then when you login on either of them you should be able to see shares without any problems.
