New In Flames

    So what do you guys think of the new In Flames stuff? I've only heard the 9 or so tracks they've played on TotalRock, and I'm really disappointed. The verses are kind of ok, but then the songs all just totally fall apart at the chorus, they all sound like really happy pop songs! The singer sounds terrible too, he really needs to go back to the old Jesters Race growling (unless his vocal cords are too messed up ^_^). It all sounds way too over-produced - even much more than Clayman!!! They really need to get some misery back in there :(
    p.s. that track with the acoustic guitars is so bad, i nearly had to turn it off! WHAT HAPPENED?!?!?!

    Aint got the new album yet, but plz dont say In Flames are going to hell :(
    Im gonna get the new stuff ASAP and hope it aint that bad.

    Damn... I haven't heard the new stuff at all yet but I've read a couple of reviews lately and they weren't the best. Once you hear the words "an attempt to gain new fans", you know it isn't good.

    I'll probably still buy it, but if it isn't good enough I shall be writing a thread on InFlames.com giving out ****e about the bands direction or whatever.

    It's actually Mikael Stanne from Dark Tranquility who sang on the Jester Race.
    The new DT album should be out now, get that instead.

    i'm listening to it now..i think they were trying for a lo-fi sound for this one.it has all the usual melodic hooks that you can expect from in flames..but they just dont work like they usually do :(
    the music seems slower and less complex than usual.

    i dunno it might grow on me yet.

    Heheh thx for clearing that up for me angelwhore, thought they had the same singer all the time lol! But even on Clayman I thought the singer was really good compared to this new stuff.
    Everyone should check out totalrock (sky digital 885) on fridays 6-9 pm if they cant be bothered downloading it/ waiting for the album to actually be released, they play loads of in flames, dark tranquility, arch enemy etc.
